Johanna Sweaney Salt announced several new California Society of CPAs leadership programs during her recent inauguration as CalCPA’s new chair.
These new resources will help increase the outreach of CalCPA’s 40,000 members to accounting students, CPA candidates and new licensees, she stressed.
"These future leaders of the profession need dedicated resources and a strong professional network to nurture their growth," said Salt, partner in Claremont firm Gray, Salt & Associates and CalCPA Inland Empire Chapter president in 2010-11, in her address.
The new programs include a jointly developed CalCPA/CalCPA Education Foundation enhanced leadership development program for rising accounting professionals. The society also plans to double its campus ambassador presence at state universities and colleges, according to Salt: "We have student ambassadors on 12 campuses across the state, and this fall that number will grow to nearly 30.”
Salt also gave the CalCPA annual business meeting attendees a preview of the society’s new CalCPA Connect, an online networking and resource social-media community, to be launched soon. Additionally, she expressed CalCPA’s continued plan to encourage California lawmakers to pass legislation conforming California’s interstate practice laws to those of the rest of the nation.
