Chief operating officer earns alumnus distinction

The California University of Pennsylvania College of Liberal Arts bestowed their 2011 Outstanding Alumnus Award on Thomas L. Bakaitus, Jr., chief operation officer at Pennsylvania regional CPA firm Herbein + Company.

College of Liberal Arts Interim Dean Dr. Mohamed Yamba presented the award April 8 during CAL U Pride Weekend.

Presented to alumni who distinguish themselves in professional and community work, Bakaitus is the fourth recipient of this award.

Bakaitus graduated from the university in 1983 with a degree in administration and management and earned his masters in taxation from Duquesne University. He joined Herbein + Company in 1993, was named partner in 2001, operating officer in 2007 and a 2010 and 2011 5-Star Wealth Manager by Pittsburgh magazine.

His practice focuses on corporate, partnership and individual tax with specialized experience in transactional analysis and business consulting.
