The Rhode Island Society of CPAs (RISCPA) and their RI Young Accountants Network (RIYAN) recently held the 4th Annual RISCPA Olympics event and collection drive this past November, collecting over $4,500 in goods/supplies and over $2,000 in direct donations, raised for the Child & Family of RI organization.

"We applaud the 114 volunteers consisting of 14 different teams, representing CPAs, attorneys and students, as well as our own Committee members who came together to support this important social service organization," stated Josh Bloom, RIYAN chair and audit supervisor at BlumShapiro. "The contribution of time, energies, and collection efforts by all volunteers is greatly appreciated, and the fun and camaraderie of our Olympics makes for a great time also. These efforts have helped put Child & Family in a better position to serve Rhode Island."

Collected goods and supplies included 303 boxes of art supplies; 42 backpacks; gift cards to Walmart and Target; various hygiene products; blankets worth $320; baby formula supplies; and toys. An additional $2,000 in direct donations was also collected for the effort. RIYAN Committee volunteers also donated some 44 hours of service from November 5-6 to collect donations for the effort, with the "Olympics" event taking place on November 2.

Child & Family RI represents the largest social services provider in Newport County, also working across Rhode Island with multiple community organizations to provide services to families in need.
