Doeren Mayhew acquires TBK CPA

Doeren Mayhew, a Top 50 Firm based in Troy, Michigan, has completed an acquisition of TBK CPA PLLC in Houston, the firm's fourth acquisition in Houston this year and its 10th across the country.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. TBK earned $13 million in revenue, while Doeren Mayhew, which ranked No. 47 on Accounting Today's 2025 list of the Top 100 Firms, earned $245 million in annual revenue this year. Doeren Mayhew has 180 partners, 850 staff members and 20 offices, while TBK has one office.The deal took effect Nov. 17, 2025, adding TBK's nearly 35 employees, including four in leadership roles, to Doeren Mayhew.

TBK dates back to 2014 and specializes in providing tax services to high-net worth individuals and privately held companies mainly in the health care, real estate, oil and gas, professional services and construction industries. All former TBK partners will join Doeren Mayhew's leadership group as tax principals, including John Blackmon, Kristi Gibb, Nick Kabani and Colin Taylor. Chuck Fiorello, who was previously a partner at TBK, will join the firm in a director role.

Doeren Mayhew took a private equity investment from Audax Private Equity in August 2024. Since then, it has been expanding in other cities besides Houston. In November, it acquired McMurray, Fox & Associates, which has offices in Hendersonville and Gallatin, Tennessee, and Novotny CPA Group in Norton Shores, Michigan. Earlier this year, it acquired Carson & McKinney CPAs and Thurman Campbell Group in Tennessee. Other recent deals include the acquisition of AGL CPA Group in Duluth, Georgia; Reimer McGuinness Hess CPAs and Advisors in Houston; Vanessa Solá's practice of Frierson, Solá, Simonton & Kutac in Houston; Benoit & Associates CPAs in Grand Rapids, Michigan; and Draper Bialik & Co. CPAs in Grand Haven, Michigan.
