The Accounting & Financial Women’s Alliance (AFWA) announced on Thursday their first ever Women of Influence, who will look to act as mentors to young professionals, as well as industry sources to AFWA and their partners.

The designated Women of Influence were chosen from professionals at the "height of their professional careers in accounting and finance," per a statement, and look to embody the "passionate and respected industry leaders who AFWA empowers its members to be."

AFWA's first Women of Influence are as follows:

  • Diane Dudley - Partner-in-charge, Federal Audit Practice at KPMG, Washington D.C.
  • Michelle Gams - Financial planner, Billings, Mont.
  • Kay Gotshall - Senior tax manager, Keiter, Richmond, Va.
  • Monika Miles - President at Miles Consulting Group, San Francisco, Calif.

“Women often look to other women for inspiration and guidance in their careers," stated Linda Harris, AFWA national president. "AFWA is proud to provide a network of professionals across the country who do just that. Our members are empowered, successful, and confident women in business, and I’m excited for Women of Influence to provide an opportunity to showcase these brilliant women."
AFWA states that they plan to grow the Women of Influence community by adding more members in the future. Chosen women will be featured via interviews and articles covering both technical and career development topics.
