The MICPA Women’s Initiatives Task Force selected three MICPA members to receive the
The Emerging Leader designation recognizes women who participate in public or community service, demonstrate leadership, create and implement unique initiatives, are involved with their alma mater or other local universities and are on their way to making a difference in the profession.
“These professionals contribute to the CPA profession and their communities in significant and unique ways,” stated Peggy Dzierzawski, president and CEO of MICPA. “They are wonderfully positive role models for colleagues and community members, and we are honored to recognize them for their contributions.”
The Experienced Leader winners are:
- Suzanne Lozano – Lozano of Saginaw is a principal in the Saginaw office of Yeo & Yeo CPAs and Business Consultants, where she leads the Management Advisory Services Group. She is a member of the firm’s Health Care Services, Heath Care Reform, and Business Valuation and Litigation Support teams. She is a member of Inforum-Great Lakes Bay Region and the Leadership Saginaw Alumni Association. Active in the community, she is vice chair of the Mid-Michigan Children’s Museum and treasurer of the Peace Lutheran Church and School Foundation in Saginaw. In being selected for the Experienced Leader Award, she is recognized for taking on increased responsibilities to meet clients’ demands and is a valued mentor for both women and men. She also demonstrates the strength and resiliency that defines women in leadership today.
- Betsy Meter – Meter of Birmingham is an audit partner at KPMG LLP in Detroit. She is chair-elect of the MICPA Board of Directors and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, or AICPA. Active in the community, she is a board member of Oakland Family Services and serves on the finance committee at St. Regis Church and School in Bloomfield Hills. She also is a member of the Society of Automotive Analysts and Inforum. In her role at KPMG, she supervises more than 100 professionals and is committed to helping them develop their skills and define their career objectives. As an Experienced Leader Award winner, she is recognized for inspiring confidence and empowering change in colleagues, clients and the community.
- Adriane Schrauben – Schrauben of Rockford is a shareholder at Hungerford Nichols CPAs + Advisors. She leads the firm’s Governmental Auditing and Estate and Trust practice teams. Active in her profession, she is a member of MICPA, AICPA, Michigan School Business Offices, Association of School Business Officials International and on the board of the West Michigan Estate Planning Council. She also is a volunteer troop leader with the Girl Scouts. In receiving the Experienced Leader Award, Schrauben is recognized for her willingness to broaden her professional skills to meet the needs of her firm and a changing industry and her ability to build trust with both clients and colleagues.
The Emerging Leader Award recipient is Robyn Fuller, a senior auditor in international operations at GM Financial. Fuller of Detroit is a member of MICPA, AICPA, the National Association of Black Accountants and the Institute of Internal Auditors. She also is active in Junior Achievement of Southeastern Michigan and the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program. In 2014, she received the Michigan Chronicle’s 40 under 40 Award and was selected to participate in the AICPA’s prestigious Leadership Academy. As an Emerging Leader Award winner, she is recognized as a dynamic role model who embodies the necessary skills to advance the CPA profession and solve complex problems.
