Wisconsin and UPenn win NASBA's 2nd annual 'CPA Exam Bracketology'

As the NCAA Division I men’s and women' basketball tournament finished up last week, so too did the 2nd annual Uniform CPA Exam Bracketology, released by the National Association of the State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA). In NASBA'S bracket, it was The University of Wisconsin and the University of Pennsylvania that claimed victories in their own men's and women's tournaments, respectively.

For the second year, NASBA examined how students from participating schools in the NCAA tournaments perform on the CPA Examination. Starting with the same 64 NCAA teams, NASBA brackets differ by schools advancing solely on their first-time CPA Exam pass rate for the 2015 calendar year.

For the men’s bracket, the University of Wisconsin is a repeat winner. The university’s CPA Exam candidates had an 84.5% pass rate with more than 175 candidates sitting for the Exam.

The women’s bracket was won by the University of Pennsylvania, who also recorded the highest CPA Exam pass rate in the nation with 90.6%.

School rankings and first-time pass rates are gathered from NASBA’s2015 Candidate Performance on the Uniform CPA Examination: University Edition, which is available for purchase atnasbareport.com. Schools must have had a minimum of five candidates sit for the CPA Exam in the 2015 calendar year in order to be included in the Uniform CPA Exam Bracket.
