Houston CPA partner joins Collaborative for Children board

Rance Buss, employee benefit assurance and compliance services partner for Houston CPA firm McConnell & Jones, recently joined the board of Collaborative for Children for a two-year term.

Collaborative for Children partners with families, teachers, care providers and community-based groups to provide early care and education for children from the ages of birth to six.

“As working parents, my wife and I had both of our children in day care; giving me firsthand knowledge of the importance of early learning,” said Buss in a statement. “I believe in the ability of Collaborative for Children to help parents and the community to develop a foundation for children to succeed in school and beyond.”

As part of the firm’s social responsibility initiative established in 1986, all McConnell & Jones partners perform 1,000 hours of community service per year for local nonprofits.

“We have a responsibility to actively give back our time and expertise in the spaces that we play in, and I’m delighted that Rance is taking on this leadership position with Collaborative for Children,” stated managing partner Ira Wayne McConnell.

Buss, who has been with the firm for six years, is also a member of the Texas Society of CPAs and the society’s Houston chapter. He also serves as the program chair for the “Day to Play in the Dirt” charity event for big Brothers and Big Sisters of Greater Houston.
