Sage donates bilingual software to nonprofits and libraries

Business management software supplier Sage North America is making its Sage Simply Accounting Pro 2011 available to nonprofit organizations and public libraries through nonprofit TechSoup Global’s product donation service.

As part of its mission for technological empowerment and philanthropy, TechSoup Global gives qualified charities access to donated and discounted technology.

Sage will include bilingual versions of the software, offering the English-Spanish version to U.S. organizations and English-French to the Canadian recipients.

"Sage Simply Accounting was designed for the non-accountant, which is ideal for nonprofit organizations where team members often handle multiple responsibilities, including bookkeeping, in which they may not have the experience and are learning on the fly," said Jamie Sutherland, vice president and general manager for Sage Simply Accounting, in a statement. "The easy-to-learn approach we've taken allows nonprofit organizations to get the accuracy, control and information they need so they can focus more time on executing their fundraising strategies and running their operations efficiently."

The software is the only one of its kind on the U.S. market that is completely bilingual in Spanish and English, according to Sage.

"Adding English-Spanish Sage Simply Accounting to our portfolio provides an easy-to-use accounting option for nonprofit organizations—particularly those that serve the more than 35 million people in the United States who speak Spanish as a primary language at home," said Gayle Carpentier, TechSoup Global’s chief business development officer.

Sage and TechSoup Global formed a partnerhip in 2008 which has led to the donation of more than 1,800 single-user licenses to U.S. and Canadian nonprofits since.

Recipient organizations pay a small administrative fee for “operational costs, the verification and reporting of the organization's eligibility, and the fostering of content and community to support the effective use of the technology products,” according to Sage.

TechSoup Global operates programs in Africa, the Americas, Asia-Pacific, Europe and the Middle East, through a network of independent NGOs, working toward the goal of providing technology to every nonprofit and social-benefit organization worldwide.
