Ron Howard is one of the executive producers behind a new comedy series set in an IRS district office that may be coming to a TV screen near you.
The Fox network has greenlighted a pilot of the show, according to
Howard, best known to TV fans as Richie Cunningham of Happy Days and Opie Taylor on The Andy Griffith Show before he became an Oscar-winning movie director, is reportedly executive-producing the new series with his colleagues from his production company, Imagine Entertainment, Brian Grazer and David Nevins. The series will be written by Brent Forrester, who is also one of the writers for the U.S. version of The Office.
The new TV series isnt the only fictional portrayal of the IRS in the works. In the book world, David Foster Wallace, the author of the cult novel Infinite Jest, was laboring on a novel about life inside an IRS facility in Illinois before he committed suicide in 2008.
