Accountants Prefer Solving Problems, Not Numbers

More accountants like to solve problems than crunch numbers, according to a new survey.

The survey, by the staffing agency Robert Half Finance & Accounting, asked 2,600 accounting and finance professionals what part of working in the accounting and finance profession they enjoy the most.

The online poll found that 41 percent of the professionals said solving problems gives them the most career satisfaction. That figure was ahead of the 22 percent who prefer working with numbers.

In addition, 17 percent of the respondents said they like making strategic recommendations for the business, while 9 percent said they most enjoy learning new technologies and software, and 8 percent cited collaborating with others.
