Brian Sackstein was hired as a partner in the not-for-profit and health care practice groups at Prager Metis, New York City and Long Island.

Elizabeth Gousse Ballotte, principal at Grassi & Co., New York, was appointed to lead the grant compliance services team, which was added to Grassi’s NFP practice.

Jeremy Hauk, partner at Eide Bailly, Fargo, where he has worked since 1989, was named director of tax.

Brian Thomas (pictured) was appointed partner-in-charge, advisory services, at Weaver, following the firm’s restructuring to combine its separate advisory practice groups — risk advisory, IT advisory, energy compliance services and financial advisory services — under Thomas’ leadership. Each group will continue to work under its leader, with Thomas leading coordination and strategic direction for the service line as a whole. Additionally, Neha Patel will now lead Weaver’s IT advisory services practice; John Wauson will lead risk advisory services; and David Rook, chief operating officer for assurance and advisory services, will continue to have overall responsibility for the service line.

VIRGINIA

L. Peyton Humphrey is celebrating 50 years at Hantzmon Wiebel, Charlottesville, where he is a retired partner but active team member who still comes into the office daily, where he will celebrate the milestone with his colleagues.

WASHINGTON, D.C.

Tony Scardino was hired as the managing principal for CXO transformation services in the public sector practice at Grant Thornton. Scardino has served in leadership positions at multiple federal agencies and most recently served nine years as the chief financial officer and acting deputy director (chief operating officer) at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office within the Department of Commerce.
