Intuit has introduced a free service that helps accountants who have excess work on their hands to find other accountants with the time and resources to assist them.

The accounting and tax software developer announced the new service, known as Intuit Accountant Work Exchange, at its Accounting Professionals User Conference. Accountants looking for extra projects can create a profile on the service listing their experience and qualifications, search for jobs in the marketplace and apply for ones in which they are interested.
Accountants who are looking to hire contractors can create new projects on the service and search for prospects by geographic locations, accreditations and Intuit products such as QuickBooks, Lacerte, ProSeries and Intuit Payroll Solutions.
"Think of it as eHarmony for accountants," said Intuit spokesman Rich Walker.
At the conference, Intuit also announced that it had reached the 50,000-member mark in its QuickBooks ProAdvisors Program. The program provides training, software, technical support and other resources to help tax and accounting practitioners grow their practices and support clients using QuickBooks.
In addition, the company debuted the Intuit Document Management System for QuickBooks Accounting. The software allows accounting professionals and small business owners who use QuickBooks to store files electronically and access them from their PCs. Customer, vendor and employee lists can be stored in the filing system.
Accountants can store client documents, print them to PDF files, associate them with specific client records, and organize them on a desktop PC or server. Documents can be saved to the system directly from Microsoft Office, password protected and e-mailed via Outlook. The single-user price is $299. For more information, visit www.intuit.com.
