The Center for Audit Quality has issued a request for proposals to fund independent academic research on projects of interest to the auditing profession.

The funding of scholarly research on audit-related topics supports the CAQ’s mission to advance audit quality.

“The CAQ is proud to continue to provide opportunities for academics to advance their research on the profession,” said CAQ executive director Cindy Fornelli in a statement. “We remain committed to providing opportunities for active engagement between the academic community, one of the CAQ’s key stakeholder groups, and the profession.”

Working through its Research Advisory Board, the CAQ anticipates making available a total of $200,000 to fund multiple projects that address the following topics: value of the audit, fraud deterrence and detection, impact of communication information technologies on the audit, professional judgment, audit quality, and professional skepticism.

The number of projects selected for funding will depend on the quality and number of proposals received and the total dollar amount of funds requested. To be considered, proposals should be received by 5:00 pm, Monday, March 1, 2010. For more information, visit www.thecaq.org.
