AUSTRALIA

HLB International will launch a series of tax webinars aimed at introducing doing business in the countries the network is established in. The series will start with a “Doing Business in Australia” webinar on November 20th.

INDONESIA

Payment solutions provider DOKU, Petersfield, chose Neural Technologies’ MinotaurTM risk management suite to meet their fraud detection and prevention needs.

SWITZERLAND

The Beau Group, which is based in French and Italian Cantons, is now a member of the mid-tier international accountancy network, HLB International.

CALIFORNIA

Macias Gini & O’Connell LLP, Sacramento, participated in and sponsored the 32nd Nancy Lopez/AIM Golf Tournament. The event was held to support Adventures In Movement for the Handicapped, Inc., a national nonprofit organization with doctors and educators who combined their knowledge in testing and evaluating movement exercises that are beneficial to individuals with visual, hearing, emotional, learning, orthopedic or coordination problems.

NEW YORK

WeiserMazars LLP, New York, will make interest free loans to its staff members who were effected by Hurricane Sandy. The Firm has designated $250,000 of its funds for the Hurricane Loan Program. The maximum loan per employee will be $5,000 and repayment will begin 90 days after the loan (payable in 24 equal monthly installments). The firm also kicked off a Hurricane Relief Fund. Where the firm requested that each partner contributes a minimum of $500 to the fund. The goal is to raise more than $100,000 for the Relief Fund. The firm is accepting checks payable to the Weiser Philanthropic Fund and can be sent to John Porricelli in New York. The firm also set up a Weiser Philanthropic Fund PayPal account. All contributions are tax deductible. …Freed Maxick CPAs PC, earned the 2012 “Best International Service Provider” award.

WISCONSIN

CliftonLarsonAllen LLP, Milwaukee, reports that an alarming number of employers that delayed preparing for the provisions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and are now moving quickly to implement changes required by the law. Anita Baker, CPA, managing partner of CLA’s employee benefit plan practice advises that employers need to be aware of additional fees that will be assessed on insurers and plan administrators of employer self-insured plans beginning in 2013.
