Intuit Connects to Wells Fargo Tax Info

Intuit has added Wells Fargo Advisors to its list of financial institutions included in ProLine Tax Import, which allows tax professionals to securely download their clients’ data directly into their tax returns within Lacerte and ProSeries.

Wells Fargo joins a list of other banks and financial institutions already supported by Intuit’s professional tax software, including Bank of America Investments, Charles Schwab, E*Trade, Edward Jones, Fidelity, Morgan Stanley, Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, Scottrade, TD Ameritrade, UBS, and Wells Fargo Advisors.

Intuit’s ProLine Tax Import uses two technologies to populate a return. The company’s direct data feed technology downloads tax information directly from financial institutions into Lacerte and ProSeries.  Once the client approves the transfer of data to the tax preparer, the technology downloads data directly from financial institutions through a secure and private Web site to Intuit’s professional tax applications. ProLine Tax Import uses 128-bit data encryption for security. The data sent to Intuit is never handled by humans during normal processing, and it never leaves the United States, the company noted.

ProLine Tax Import also reads clients’ data from scanned source documents, including data from consolidated brokerage statements, W-2s, 1099s, and Schedule K-1s, and imports it into Lacerte and ProSeries. Tax professionals first scan the documents, send the file to Intuit for processing, and then import the data into the tax return. Through a visual three-step process—input, review and file—the company’s review tools uncover mistakes or omissions.
