Intuit teamed up Wednesday with the National Association of Tax Professionals on a series of tax prep training programs designed for Intuit customers.

The training includes more than 300 courses on subjects ranging from basic to advanced tax preparation to preparing for the Enrolled Agent Exam and the IRS’s impending Registered Tax Preparer Exam. The announcement was made Wednesday at the Accounting Technology New York conference.

The courses are offered at special discounted pricing for Intuit customers and are available in a variety of ways to meet practitioners’ needs, including in-person workshops, live and on-demand webinars and facilitated online courses.

“Because tax professionals have different goals and needs, we have different tracks of education to help them meet their training goals,” said Allessandria Polizzi, group manager for learning and development in the Intuit Accounting Professionals Division. “Together, our two organizations will offer affordable training that help tax preparers achieve their training goals and meet the new IRS regulations.”

In the extensive course library, Intuit and the NATP offer classes to help tax professionals prepare for the Enrolled Agent Exam conducted by the IRS to become an enrolled agent and a basic tax training course for new employees or new tax preparers who want to learn how to do Form 1040 tax preparation.

In addition, Intuit and the NATP offer a preparation course for the soon-to-be-required Registered Tax Preparer Exam. Under Internal Revenue Service guidelines, unlicensed tax preparers must complete 15 hours of continuing professional education training each year, beginning in 2012. Unlicensed preparers are those who, until now, have not been formally regulated by the IRS. By the end of 2013, these unlicensed preparers will be required to pass a competency test in order to become Registered Tax Return Preparers.
