Intuit Updates Tax Research and Import

Intuit has made several updates to its Tax Research and Tax Import for Lacerte and ProSeries products, in response to a recent survey of accounting professionals.

The Intuit survey, conducted in December 2011, found that when asked what aspects of their practices were the most time-consuming, 47 percent of the 669 accounting professionals polled said it is “finding and identifying the answers to tax questions to attach to their clients’ returns.” The same survey asked accounting professionals where they see the biggest opportunity to use technology to help them save time, with 51 percent of respondents saying they would like “an offering that helps them compile receipts and other tax documents efficiently.”

As a result, Intuit Tax Research now includes a Google search engine, program manager technical advice; and IRS news releases and information letters, as well as IRS actions on decisions and court cases. Intuit Tax Research also now offers the ability to filter a search within a search to hone in on answers; and do advanced searches for more relevant results.

In addition, Intuit Tax Import now features improved reliability of data importing due to built-in warning tools; and a new form reviewer tool for checking and editing before importing. Intuit Tax Import also now features improved turnaround time, with results returned in 30 minutes or less; and support for nine new financial institutions for data download.
