Brown Smith Wallace Names Next MP

St. Louis-based Regional Leader Brown Smith Wallace announced that co-founder Harvey Wallace will step down as managing partner at the end of the year, with the firm’s current partner-in-charge of audit, Anthony Caleca, stepping into the MP role on Jan. 1, 2016.

[IMGCAP(1)]Caleca will be the first non-founder to serve as MP since BSW debuted 43 years ago. Co-founder Jeffrey Smith led the first until 2008, and Wallace became MP in 2009.

Caleca has been with the firm since 1991, rising from intern to become the youngest person ever admitted to the partnership in 2002. He was unanimously elected by the partners this spring.

“Tony has grown up with the firm,” said Wallace. “He embodies everything that makes our culture so great — he’s dedicated and committed to our clients and the Brown Smith Wallace family.”

[IMGCAP(2)]“You can only imagine what an amazing opportunity this is for me,” says Caleca. “To start as an intern 20 years ago and now be selected to lead the firm is incredible. I have big shoes to fill. I’m humbled and honored to have this amazing opportunity.”

Wallace, who was recently named to Accounting Today’s Managing Partner Elite list of outstanding firm leaders, will retain a seat on Brown Smith Wallace’s Executive Committee, and remain an active member of the partner group.
