Dixon Hughes Goodman Completes Stegman Merger

Dixon Hughes Goodman LLP has expanded to Maryland by merging in Stegman & Company, reputedly the oldest Maryland-based CPA firm, on June 1.

The two firms originally announced the deal in January (see Dixon Hughes Goodman to Merge in Stegman & Company). Dixon Hughes Goodman, based Charlotte, N.C., ranked 17th on Accounting Today's 2016 list of the Top 100 Firms, with $371 million in annual revenue.

“DHG is enthusiastic to welcome Stegman & Company’s people, their rich history and their record of client service and industry leadership,” said DHG CEO Matt Snow in a statement. “As we expand further in the Mid-Atlantic region, together we will continue to focus on building valuable careers with our people and helping our clients achieve their goals.”

As part of the deal, Virginia M. Anderson and Michael Giuffrida of Stegman are joining DHG as directors, while James J. Dougherty, Elizabeth S. Gantnier, Garrett G. Parks, M. Conor Quinn, Keith N. Wiessner and William E. Williams, Jr. are becoming partners at DHG. M. Conor Quinn will be market managing partner for the greater Baltimore market.

“With the changing landscape of the accounting profession, joining DHG expands our resources and services in the greater Baltimore market,” said Quinn. “Our core values and strong commitment to client service closely align; we are excited to celebrate working together as one team.”

Stegman’s old Baltimore office plans to participate in DHG’s fifth annual Count the Cans, which will take place June 17 to June 27. The new DHG Baltimore office will collect monetary and non-perishable food donations in an effort serve the greater Baltimore community and families who face the struggle of hunger. In addition, the partners and employees will volunteer at the Maryland Food Bank and Helping Up Mission, which serves meals to the homeless community, as a part of the Count the Cans initiative. Over 3.2 million pounds of food have been donated to local food banks in the Mid-Atlantic and Southern states in prior years of the annual DHG Count the Cans food drive.
