Barry Sunshine joined Janover LLC, Garden City, as a tax partner. Sunshine has more than 25 years of experience providing tax planning and preparation, as well as succession planning for businesses and structuring business purchases and sales. … Peter Rabinowitz joined the State and Local Tax Practice of J.H. Cohn, where he will serve as a director at its New York office. Prior to J.H. Cohn, Rabinowitz held several tax positions in New York City’s Finance and Law Departments ,where he represented the city in more than 500 hearings. His most recent position was chief of audit operations. … Michael Bernstein has been named managing partner at Rosen Seymour Shapss Martin & Co. LLP, New York. Bernstein succeeds Martin Greenberg who previously served as managing partner at the firm. RSSM also tapped David W. Ostrow to serve as administrative managing partner, which is a newly created position at the firm. Fred Shapss, chairman of RSSM, has been elected to serve on the North American Board of Directors and World Board of Directors of PrimeGlobal. … John Sabatini joined the PwC as partner in the risk assurance practice, where he will lead the firm’s new Advanced Risk & Compliance Analytics Services. Prior to PwC, Sabatini served as a managing director of IT at Goldman Sachs. He led the global technology audit team and was responsible for evaluating the firm’s internal control structure and providing strategic advice to management as they developed control solutions and monitored the implementation of management’s control measures. The firm also tapped partner Paula Loop as the New York Metro Region Assurance Leader, while partner Deidre Schiela was named as the West Region Assurance Leader. In PwC’s Forensic Services practice, Ryan Murphy and Philip Koos were admitted as partner, while Alexandre Blanc and Sanjay Subramanian were promoted to principal.

 

NORTH CAROLINA

Ron Wainwright, a tax partner at Cherry, Bekaert & Holland LLP, Raleigh, has been elected to the executive board of the North Carolina Association of Community College Trustees. ...Bobby Bono was appointed leader of PwC’s U.S. industrial manufacturing group, where he will be based in Charlotte. Bono succeeds Barry Misthal, who currently heads PwC's global industrial manufacturing practice.

 

SOUTH CAROLINA

Stacey Hollings joined Elliott Davis LLC, Charleston, as tax manager, where she will assist clients with tax planning and compliance services. Hollings started her accounting career six years ago and focused on calculation of research and development credits.

 

TEXAS

Monica Moody joined Condley & Co. LLP, Abilene, as an audit in-charge with the firm’s Banking Services Group. Moody, who specializes in internal controls and compliance for banking institutions, will take on bank internal audits for the firm. … Randie St. Angelo has joined Better Bookkeepers Inc., Woodlands, as a bookkeeper. Angelo has more than 15 years of financial and bookkeeping experience and specializes in QuickBooks. Prior to Better Bookkeepers, Angelo served as a finance director at the South Montgomery County Woodlands Chamber of Commerce and the Woodlands Area Economic Development Partnership.

Peter Bakker, president of World Business Council for Sustainable Development, was appointed deputy chair to the International Integrated Reporting Council, London.

Michele Wein Layne has been named the new regional director of the Los Angeles Regional Office of the SEC. Layne succeeds Rosalind Tyson.

 

WEST VIRGINIA

Mark Woolwine and Scott Clarke were admitted to the partnership of Brown, Edwards & Co. LLP, Bluefield. Woolwine joined the firm’s assurance practice in 2000 after serving as a controller for a not-for-profit organization. Clarke joined the firm’s assurance practice in 2004, where he conducts audit, review, and compilation services to an assortment of clients. He also reviews and prepares federal and state income tax returns for corporations, partnerships, individuals, not-for-profits, and employee benefit plans.

 

WISCONSIN

Linda Liu and Briana Birenbaum have been promoted to tax senior at Vrakas/Blum, Brookfield. … Michael P. Rosera joined Lands’ End Inc., a subsidiary of Sears Holdings Corp., as CFO and COO. Rosera will handle accounting, financial reporting, legal, information technology and integrated company planning for the Dodgeville-based business.
