XCM Releases 10th Version and New Mobile App

Cloud-based workflow automation software maker XCM Solutions has unveiled version 10 of its flagship product designed to extend its use to all areas of the firm and expand its budgeting and forecasting functionality, as well as released a new mobile application for access to key XCM product functions from any tablet or smartphone.

XCM has a goal of making the product both browser and operating system independent to enable users to access all of the software's capabilities from any browser, any computer and any device.

XCM 10 represents a compilation of enhancements released during the summer and fall, with the final release planned for this month. Many of the improved features were designed to enable greater firm-specific customization, enhance usability, and expand areas of the software for real-time resource allocation and calendar-based scheduling.

Some key enhancements in XCM 10 include improved user rights control; expanded user role definitions across all practice areas; customizable search results for client and firm management data; customizable fields on the digital routing page; the ability to save common search parameters and to search and process multiple tasks simultaneously; and the ability for firms to record over- and under-time and estimate time.

In addition, the beta version of a new mobile app is now available, with the full release coming in January.

The XCM mobile application will give smartphone and tablet users the ability to view all projects assigned and the My View page for personal workload management; search for projects to quickly see the status and associated information; and add issues and points, or knowledge, to a client project, and respond to personally assigned questions. Mobile users can also move projects to the next step in the process and close completed checklist items; access project-specific details; and sign off on completed projects.

"With the introduction of new mobile platforms, our goal is to create a similar user experience to working in XCM on a computer or laptop," said XCM vice president of development Sanjath Sulkunte. "Our strategy revolves around adopting different technologies that will allow the XCM interface to scale to various sizes and mobile platforms. The mobile app is the first result of this approach."
