According to a new survey from Accountemps, 30 percent of surveyed CFOs cited a motivation to learn new skills as the most necessary trait for professionals to succeed in today's business landscape. Interpersonal skills (27 percent) and the ability to "adapt easily to change" (24 percent) followed closely behind.

The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) donated $10,000 to the National September 11 Memorial and Museum during its annual International Conference in Manhattan. Josh Cherwin, director of Institutional Advancement for the Memorial and Museum, accepted the donation from IA International Conference co-chairs Nick DiMola and Paul Flora.

York University in Toronto announced on Tuesday that their School of Continuing Studies will start offering post-graduate accounting certificates this September, approved by the Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) of Ontario. The courses look to further prepare students to thrive in the accounting profession, as well as gaining an advantage in applying to the Schulich School of Business' Masters of Accounting program.

The RI Society of CPAS (RISCPA) announced on Monday that they will host their 25th Annual Golf Tournament on Monday, July 25th at the Warwick Country Club. Over 140 golfers will be playing for the Community Preparatory School - an independent school in South Providence where over 96% of students receive substantial financial aid.

Today at NAF Next 2016 - NAFs annual professional development conference - the AICPA and NAF announced the launch of a new high school prep program aimed at increasing and diversifying the pipeline of students entering the accounting profession. Dubbed the AICPA/NAF Recognition Program, the initiative will launch nationwide this Fall in 209 Academies of Finance in 117 school districts across 32 states and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Deloitte announced on Monday that a team of undergrad and graduate accounting students representing Louisiana State University (LSU) placed first in the Deloitte Foundation's 21st annual National Student Case Study Seminar. The Deloitte Foundation awarded each of the five winning LSU team members a $2,000 scholarship and a $10,000 award towards LSU's accounting program.
