Last week, five California CPAs were awarded the California Society of CPAs' (CalCPA) Women to Watch Awards during the Society's Women's Leadership Forum held at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel, CalCPA announced on Monday. The NASBA Center for the Public Trust (CPT) has announced the winners of its 2016 Ethics in Action Student Video Competition on Thursday. Michael Savoy, senior shareholder at Santa Monica-based firm Gumbiner Savett, is being honored with the Humanitarian Award at the National Jewish Health and Los Angeles Professional Services "Black and White Ball," the firm announced this week. The event will be held June 4, at the Skirball Cultural Center, in West Los Angeles.

The Concern Foundation's mission statement is to "CONquer CanCER Now," and has, to date, funded over 700 cancer research scientists across the country and abroad.

Montana State University announced this week that Anne Christensen, accounting professor at the University's Jake Jabs College of Business and Entrepreneurship, has been elected president of the American Accounting Associations Board of Directors. Christensens election will see a one-year term beginning this August, followed by a one-year term as president and another as past-president.
