To make matters easier, Affordable Colleges Online, an online resource focused on web-based degrees, has released their list of the top 51 schools for online accounting degree programs.

On Nov. 21, more than 250 high school students in the Rochester area will attend the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants Rochester Chapter's "World of Accounting" event, to be held at the HSBC building in Rochester. The half-day program will feature a variety of speakers, including CPAS and IRS Criminal Investigation Division special agents, to introduce the profeesion as a career choice available in public, private, and government settings.

The Supreme Court held a hearing last week on a case that could have far-reaching implications, challenging the authority of the state of Maryland to tax all of the income of a resident whose business pays taxes to other states and localities, while another case coming up on the Affordable Care Act promises to have even bigger ramifications.

Becker Professional Education announced on Tuesday its Newton D. Becker 2015 scholarship program, set to award over $225,000 to more than 120 CPA candidates. Applicants will have an opportunity to receive one of 20 full CPA Exam Review scholarships, valued at $3,393 each, or one of 100 scholarships valued at $1,697 each.

On Wednesday, private research univeristy Stevens Institute of Technology announced a three-year collaboration with Accenture, set to study and focus on analytics in the financial services industry. Additionally, the two will hold advanced analytics research projects and work shop sessions with Accenture's financial services clients.
