Accounting Today announces ranking schedule for 2026

With its first major ranking of the year due to come out next week, Accounting Today is announcing the schedule of our rankings, listings and reports for the rest of the year, from our Top 100 Firms and Regional Leaders lists through our Best Firms to Work For to our Most Influential People report.

For each report, we will announce a call for submissions roughly two months before the publication month, with information on the submission process, any survey forms that need to be completed, and detailed eligibility requirements.

All of our firm-based lists are open to U.S.-based CPA and accounting firms, in most cases of any size (Best Firms to Work For must have at least 15 employees, to make sure there are enough staff for a statistically significant employee survey).

Below is a complete roster of this year's rankings and listings, with details on submission windows, publication dates, contact names and more.

May: The Best Firms for Technology

This annual selection highlights a dozen firms, both large and small, that are pioneering best practices in leveraging technology to support a thriving practice.

The call for submissions will open in early March and close in early April.

The final report will be published on May 5.

June: Wealth Magnets: The Top Firms by AUM

This annual ranking highlights the largest CPA wealth management practices, ranking 150 firms by assets under management. Participants must be accounting firms or accounting firm subsidiaries/affiliates.

The call for submissions will open in mid-April and close in early May.

The final report will be published on June 2.

July: The VAR 100

This annual ranking lists the top accounting resellers in the country by revenue.

September: The Best Firms to Work For

This annual ranking, created in partnership with Best Cos. Group, highlights 100 of the top workplaces in the accounting profession.

The call for submissions is open now at BestAccountingFirmstoWorkFor.com.

The final report will be published in early September.

October: The Best Firms for Women

This annual ranking is drawn from our broader Best Firms to Work For list and highlights firms from that list whose female staff ranked them as the best.

November: The Best Firms for Young Accountants

This annual ranking is drawn from our broader Best Firms to Work For list and highlights firms from that list whose younger staff ranked them as the best.

This annual selection recognizes 100 of the changemakers, thought leaders, trailblazers and others who are leading the profession into the future.

The call for nominations will open in mid-September.

The final report will be published on Dec. 8.

The 2027 Top Firms and Regional Leaders

This major report ranks the 100 largest accounting firms in the U.S., and the leading firms in each of 10 regions across the country, as well as our Top Tax Firms.

The call for participation will go out Dec. 15, 2026, and responses will be due in the third week of January 2027.

The final report will be published in March 2027.
