The American Manufacturing Hall of Fame honored its 2019 inductees on Oct. 11 at the Trumbull Marriott Shelton: Ashcroft Inc. in Stratford; Medtronic in North Haven; Microboard Processing Inc. in Seymour; Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford; and Sonics & Materials Inc. in Newtown. Additionally, Frank Gulluni received the American Manufacturing Hall of Fame 2019 Leadership Award.

Fulcrum Partners, Ponte Vedra, was recognized as a corporate sponsor of the Luis Palau Association’s Love Côte d’Ivoire Festival, led by firm co-founder and managing director G. Scott Cahill. During the three-day Ivory Coast festival, the Luis Palau team worked throughout the western Africa country, partnering with 2,200 local churches to coordinate 54 special events.

The Kansas Society of CPAs honored the 2019 Women to Watch nominees and winners at an Oct. 4 awards luncheon at the Grand Street Cafe in Lenexa. The nominees were: Jackie Reynolds, partner and vice president at McAuley & Crandall; Alyssa Sharp, QSR senior CPA accountant at Mize Houser & Co.; Becky Shaw, tax manager at Berberich Trahan & Co.; Amber Goering, shareholder at Goering & Granatino; Michele Hammann, chief strategy officer and shareholder of SS&C Solutions, Inc. and vice president of Summers, Spencer & Co.; Janet Houchen, managing member at Pro 31 Tax & Accounting; Laura Lehmer, partner at Regier Carr & Monroe CPAs; and Angela Malley, vice president and trust officer at The Trust Company of Kansas. The winners were: Becky Shaw, receiving the Emerging Leader Award (pictured) and Michele Hammann as the Experienced Leader Award winner.

PKF O’Connor Davies, New York, launched family advisory services, an expansion of the firm’s family office offering focused on delivering advisory solutions to private business owners, ultra-high-net-worth families, their family offices and their advisors. FAS will be led by industry veteran Steve Prostano.

Marcum is continuing its tradition of closing all offices the day before Thanksgiving (Nov. 27) this year, so staff can volunteer with local nonprofit organizations dedicated to alleviating hunger. The Marcum Day of Service is a paid philanthropy day available to all Marcum staff at all firm affiliates in the U.S.

Deloitte, New York, was named Americas Tax Technology Firm of the Year by International Tax Review.

The New York State Society of CPAs’ Foundation for Accounting Education hosted its annual Business and Industry Conference on Oct. 16 at Baruch College’s William and Anita Newman Conference Center, where CPA firm and banking experts providing business tips and updates to attendees.

The American Institute of CPAs, New York, announced the inaugural recipients of the George Willie Ethnically Diverse Student Scholarship and Internship Program.
