EY hires two global leaders from government; ReceiptBank appoints a new CEO; and more CPA news from across the country.

CALIFORNIA

Armanino, San Ramon, launched a blockchain practice offering a full range of specialized services. (Read the full story.) In other news, Armanino announced it is a registered consulting and AppExchange partner with Salesforce to provide full CRM implementation of the Salesforce platform.

Pete Hirsch was hired as chief technology officer at BlackLine, Los Angeles, where he will be responsible for the technology direction of BlackLine’s flagship cloud platform.

FLORIDA

The American Accounting Association, Lakewood Ranch, elected four new members to the Accounting Hall of Fame: William Campfield, who has worked in various capacities, including executive management with the U.S. Government Accountability Office; Major J. Lee Nicholson, an industrial consultant, author and educator at New York University and Columbia University; Zoe-Vonna Palmrose, professor emeritus of accounting at the University of Washington; and Stephen Penman, George O. May Professor and chair of the accounting division in the graduate school of business at Columbia University. The members will be formally inducted at the August 2019 annual meeting of the AAA in San Francisco.

MAINE

Baker Newman Noyes, Portland, announced three promotions: Gilda Bryand to administrative manager in the tax practice, Jason Emery to managing director in the audit practice, and Brian Sawlivich to IT manager in the operations department.

MASSACHUSETTS

Miriam Niedelman was promoted to manager in the tax practice at Baker Newman Noyes, Boston.

MINNESOTA

Moore Stephens North America, Minneapolis, voted for three members to join its executive board: Bruce Zicari, incoming managing partner at The Bonadio Group; Patrick Fuelling, shareholder at Doeren Mayhew & Co.; and Dan Natale, managing partner at Segal.

NEPAL

Shankar Associates, Kathmandu, joined MGI Worldwide as a member firm of the international accounting association.

NEW HAMPSHIRE

Zoe Kennedy and Olivia Lavigne were promoted to managers in the audit practice in the Portsmouth office, and Lisa Belliveau was promoted to managing director in the tax practice in the Manchester office, at Baker Newman Noyes.

Oliver Dennison (pictured) was hired as a managing director in the financial services advisory practice at Grant Thornton, New York.

Jonathan Gold was hired as a principal in the tax services group at Prager Metis, White Plains.

Michael Flagiello and Alex Unterkoefler were hired as senior managing directors in the global insurance services practice, within the forensic and litigation consulting segment, at FTI Consulting, New York.

NORTH CAROLINA

Nathan Wicker was hired as a senior associate in the audit department at Blackman & Sloop CPAs, Wake Forest.

PENNSYLVANIA

Elizabeth Hassler (pictured) was promoted to partner in the tax department at Herbein + Co., Reading, where she has worked since 2015.

Deborah Rock, a consultant in the tax services group at RKL, Lancaster, has earned the Certified Cost Segregation Professional designation.

UNITED KINGDOM

Adrian Blair was appointed CEO at ReceiptBank, London. Blair was previously global chief operating officer at Just Eat. (See the full story.)

VIRGINIA

Cetrom, Vienna, was named to CRN’s 2019 Managed Service Provider 500 list, in the Pioneer 250 category, recognizing North American solution providers with innovative approaches to managed services.

WASHINGTON, D.C.

Barbara Angus was appointed global tax policy leader at EY, where she will focus on engagement with key policymakers and clients globally. Angus was previously chief tax counsel for the Committee on Ways and Means of the U.S. House of Representatives, where she played an integral role in the development of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017. EY also announced that Douglas Bell was hired as global trade policy leader, working across the organization to support clients and advise the firm's leadership on trade issues. Bell also joins EY after a career in the federal government, most recently at the U.S. Department of the Treasury, where he served as deputy assistant secretary for trade and investment policy.
