Wayne Pinnell, managing partner at Haskell & White, Irvine, received the 2018 Mihaylo Accounting Service Award from the department of accounting at California State University, Fullerton, for his contributions to the accounting program.

COLORADO

BKD Wealth Advisors expanded to Colorado, with Justin Wheeler, a senior managing advisor in the Kansas City office, relocating to the new office in Denver.

Gina Miller will lead the new value acceleration and exit planning services practice at Bennett Thrasher, Atlanta. The new practice group will provide comprehensive exit planning consulting that includes valuation, corporate tax, personal tax, wealth advisory, transaction advisory, audit and assurance consulting, and operational support for business owners planning to transition out of their businesses

ILLINOIS

Crowe, Chicago, appointed three managing partners and one audit partner. Jodi Kippe was named managing partner of the retail dealer services group; Kevin Smith was named managing partner of the public sector services group; Jon Zeiler was named managing partner of the firm’s construction and real estate services group; and Kelly Frank joined Crowe as a partner in the public sector services group of audit services.

Richard Caturano and Charles Barley, Jr. of RSM, Chicago, were named 2018 national award recipients by the National Association of Black Accountants. Caturano, national leader of culture, diversity and inclusion at RSM, received the 2018 National Achievement in Public Accounting award and Barley, director of risk advisory services at RSM, won the 2018 Rising Star award.

MASSACHUSETTS

Karen Spinelli announced the formation of her new accounting firm, Spinelli CPA, with headquarters at 146 West Boylston Drive, Suite 302 in Worcester.

Jairam Padmanabhan was hired as the vice president and chief product officer at XCM, Quincy.

KPM CPAs & Advisors, Springfield, promoted five people: Sarah Burrows, Kevin Stewart and Brandon Talty to supervisors, Amanda McCafferty to senior; and Kristy Madewell to payroll and benefits coordinator. Additionally, staff accountant Matthew Randolph earned the Certified Management Accountant credential.

Mueller Prost, St. Louis, added three new partners: Douglas Kolker, director of research and experimentation tax credit services; Tiffany Kuntemeier, senior manager, tax services and Justin Koebel, senior manager, business services.

RubinBrown, St. Louis, promoted six to manager in the assurance services group: Emily Buckley, Chris Gilbert, Hillary Ravellette, Lisa Sanford, Jimmy Young and Sam Zeller.

In other firm news, Nisivoccia was honored with the Longevity Award at the 14th annual Sussex County Economic Development Partnership (SCEDP) Awards June 15, given to a company or an individual who has owned or been employed by a company for 25 years or more.

Baker Tilly Virchow Krause held a topping out ceremony June 20 to mark its new Central Pennsylvania regional office located in the CityGate Corporate Center in Lancaster. The new office is located at 1570 Fruitville Pike.
