CalCPA 2026 Awards
CalCPA held its annual Members Club Summit with hundreds of CPAs and accounting professionals in attendance, and installed Miklos Ringbauer, founder of MiklosCPA, as its 2026-27 board chair. Hitendra Patil has published "PE Deal Ready: See Your Firm the Way Private Equity Already Does Before You Sell, Merge, or Stay," which is written specifically for CPA firm owners evaluating private equity transactions or planning to remain independent. The ebook, available online, draws on three years of research into PE-CPA transactions and includes the Enterprise Attractiveness Scorecard, which calculates a firm's "True FirmWorth" based on 10 dimensions used by PE diligence teams to evaluate firms. The book contains more than 200 preparation actions, 41 questions PE buyers ask sellers, and 32 questions sellers should ask in return, covering the full transaction arc from initial contact through closing and post-deal integration. International firm association Abacus Worldwide, Miami, has added Bolivian accounting firm Horady Ltda. Based in Cochabamba, Horady offers audit, accounting and business advisory services.

Bennett Thrasher, Atlanta, was named to the 2026 Inc. 5000 list of the fastest-growing private companies in America. The firm has averaged 42% growth over the past three years.

ILLINOIS

Chris Haiss, a partner at Gross, Mendelsohn & Associates, Baltimore, was elected to the board of directors of the American Subcontractors Association of Baltimore for the 2026-2027 term.

Plante Moran, Southfield, was ranked No. 13 on People magazine's "100 Companies that Care" list for 2026, marking the firm's fifth consecutive year on the list. PricewaterhouseCoopers came in at No. 14, KPMG at No. 59, RSM US at No. 61, and EY at No. 94.
