BDO adds Cosyntris

Top Eight Firm BDO USA has added in Denver-based Cosyntris Advisory Network, an RIA consultancy, effective Dec. 1.

Founded in 2012, Cosyntris offers CPAs and other professionals a wealth management solution including a technology platform and a flexible practice model. The company has previously partnered with ACM LLP, which was acquired by BDO USA in August (see story).

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but BDO will maintain Cosyntris' Denver office.

Aprio combines with dental firm

Georgia-based Top 100 Firm Aprio has combined with Charlotte, N.C.-based Stowe & Stowe CPAs, expanding its dental practice.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Stowe & Stowe's principal and founder, Tom Stowe, will be joining Aprio as a partner, bringing more than two decades of experience with dental practices across the Southeast.

“The combination with Stowe & Stowe, along with the recent addition of Nashville-based firm WSW CPAs, furthers Aprio’s strategic regional growth plans and strengthens our national dental segment,” said Brad McKeiver, partner-in-charge of Aprio’s national dental practice, which services over 400 dental practices, in a statement.

VIRGINIA

Citrin Cooperman adds Homes, Lowry, Horn & Johnson

New York-based Top 100 Firm Citrin Cooperman has added Fairfax, Virginia-based Homes, Lowry, Horn & Johnson Ltd., effective Dec. 1.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but four partners from HLHJ and 17 staff will join Citrin Cooperman, giving the firm over 100 professionals and a third office in the Washington, D.C., area (pictured above).

“We have been strategically building our D.C. Metro region, and HLHJ is an experienced firm with a lot to offer in our decision to expand more in the Northern Virginia region,” said Bo Fitzpatrick, managing partner of the D.C. Metro offices, in a statement. “The team has a wide breadth of industry expertise, and knows the business geography inside and out.”


The Income Tax School acquired by KnowFully Learning Group

The Income Tax School, a provider of continuing education, certification and training for tax professionals, has been acquired by KnowFully Learning Group, a CPE, exam prep and digital learning solutions provider.

Going forward, ITS will operate as Surgent Income Tax School.

"ITS is a strong complement to Surgent's expansive portfolio of educational solutions for accounting, tax, and finance professionals," said KnowFully CEO Eric Cantor, in a statement. "They've developed a stellar reputation within their target market and we are confident that together we will be able to build upon ITS' strong foundation to expand and diversify our learning solutions for tax professionals."

ITS was founded in 1989 by Chuck McCabe, a frequent member of Accounting Today's Top 100 Most Influential People roster.
