Christie Simons, an audit and assurance partner at Deloitte, was named the new chair of the CalCPA Board of Directors during CalCPA’s annual members’ business meeting.

CONNECTICUT

Nicholas DaPaz

Nicholas DaPaz was promoted to partner at CironeFriedberg, Shelton, where he provides audit and tax services.

FLORIDA

Ivey Rose Smith was named vice president of membership and corporate relations at the Florida Institute of CPAs, Tallahassee. In other news, FICPA announced the in-person return of its annual Health Care Industry Conference, to be held Sept. 23-24 at the Rosen Plaza Hotel in Orlando.

GAMBIA

Payce Consulting joined international association Andersen Global.

KENTUCKY

P. Harrison Price

Riney Hancock CPAs, Owensboro, promoted: P. Harrison Price to senior manager, S. John Palmer to senior accountant, and Alice Walker to staff II accountant in the tax services division; Marissa Zirkelbach to supervisor in the audit and assurance services division; and Haley Coons to staff I accountant in the client accounting services division.

Gary Dressler

Gary Dressler, associate director in the New Orleans tax practice at Postlethwaite & Netterville, assumed the role of chair of the Society of Louisiana CPAs at the 2021 annual meeting. Additionally, P&N tax directors Brandon Lagarde and Greg Booth were named LCPA board members-at-large.

The Society of Louisiana CPAs honored 11 CPAs with its annual awards. The society awarded: Bridget Kaigler the Distinguished Public Service Award; Daryl Purpera, Layne McDaniel, Darla Saux, Tim Green and David Johnston the Special Recognition Award; Brandon Lagarde the Distinguished Service Award; Vanessa Claiborne the 2021 Women to Watch Experienced Leader Award; William Mason the Life Membership Award; Robin LeBlanc the 2021 Women to Watch Emerging Leader Award; and Christopher Barr the 2021 Outstanding CPA in Business and Industry Award.

MARYLAND

Councilor, Buchanan & Mitchell, Bethesda, named to partner: Thomas Bailey, director, construction and real estate group; Daniel Keefer; Julia Lafferty, director, not-for-profit group; Jane Ochsman Rowny, director, divorce litigation group; Aleksandr Seleznev, financial advisor and portfolio strategist; and Winnie Yang, director, professional services group.

MICHIGAN

Brittan Ashley Sepanak was hired as an accounting associate at Lewis & Knopf, Flint.

MISSOURI

Lance Haynes

Lance Haynes was hired as vice president of corporate finance at UHY Advisors, St. Louis.

Brad Brotherton was named the first regulatory and reimbursement consulting practice leader at BKD, Springfield.

NEW JERSEY

Lorri Morris was promoted to director in the private client services group at Marks Paneth, Parsippany.

NEW YORK

Stephen Mannhaupt

Stephen Mannhaupt was named co-leader of the New York City market at Grassi. In other firm news, Grassi released the findings of its latest survey of New York-area contractors and subcontractors, the 2021 Construction Industry Survey, developed by the firm’s construction practice and advisory board. The survey is available here.

Marks Paneth promoted to director, in the Woodbury office: Tara Cohen, Derek Correll and Maya Chahine Khan in the real estate group; and in the New York City office, Jessica Strom in the commercial business group and Chaim Zeitchik in the real estate group.

PwC, New York, announced analytics automation company Alteryx will become a global elite partner of the firm, expanding the partnership the two began in February 2020 to advance upskilling efforts and digital transformation projects in the U.S. to now extend across the Asia-Pacific and Europe, Middle East and Africa regions.

PENNSYLVANIA

Laurel Cline

Herbein + Co., Reading, appointed four vice presidents in its Herbein | Mosteller HR Solutions division: Laurel Cline, Karen DiGioia, Lori Gliva and Scott Smith.

Louis Plung & Co., Pittsburgh, is celebrating 100 years of service, having provided tax, audit, business and personal consulting services since opening its doors in 1921.

TEXAS

Stephen Patton

Stephen Patton was hired as a senior manager to lead the technical accounting engagements within the public company services practice at Weaver, Houston.
