On the move: INCPAS holds Day of Service

The Indiana CPA Society holds their CPA Day of Service, and the Connecticut Society of CPAs announces the date of theirs; Lutz adds outsourced HR services; NJCPA CEO Ralph Thomas announces retirement; and more CPA news. 

CONNECTICUT

The Connecticut Society of CPAs will be hosting a Day of Giving social and collection drive Nov. 29 to benefit Connecticut Foodshare and Connecticut Children's Medical Center at the CTCPA office in Rocky Hill.

FLORIDA

Jason Geisler was named office managing partner in the Tampa Bay office of Grant Thornton, where he has served as partner for the last six years. 

GEORGIA

The Georgia Society of CPAs announced members Rodrick Perkins, Kendra LeFleur and Miranda Coleman, were three of 36 CPAs selected as members of the American Institute of CPAs' Leadership Academy, held Oct. 23-27.

ILLINOIS

The Illinois CPA Society is hosting the 11th annual Mary T. Washington Wyle Internship Preparation Program on Jan. 4-6, 2023, and is now accepting applications until Nov. 7 here

The Indiana CPA Society held its 18th annual CPA Day of Service Sept. 30, when teams from 14 organizations completed 15 service projects in eight Indiana communities: Delphi, Elkhart, Fort Wayne, Greensburg, Indianapolis, Noblesville, South Bend and Winona Lake.

KPMG hired to their tax practice: Britt Haxton as a principal in the international tax practice in the Tysons Corner, Virginia, office; Joe Vaccaro as a business tax services partner in the New York financial services banking and insurance tax practice; Ilya Borukhov and Nelson Valentine as managing directors in the asset management tax practice based in New York; Mike Rylant as a managing director in the state and local tax practice in Hartford, Connecticut; and Suzy Fuller, rejoining as a managing director in the New York real estate and financial services tax practice based in Kansas City. 

The New York State Society of CPAs launched a partnership with IumiQ, which produces on-demand style podcasts to obtain CPE. 

CohnReznick was named to Newsweek's 2022 list of Most Loved Workplaces for the second consecutive year.

Phuong Gomard transferred from Mazars U.K. and has joined the U.S. team as a principal in the sustainable finance and ESG practice. In other firm news, Michael Coletti, Laura Peth and Karine Philippon were appointed to its executive board, representing the manufacturing and distribution, health care and technology practices, respectively; Lisa Osofsky retains her board seat; and audit partner Marty Garland was named the new office managing partner of the Pennsylvania office.
