On the move: MACPA holds CPA swearing-in ceremony

Grant Thornton adds five to senior leadership team; Marcum prepares for its annual Day of Service; and more news from accounting firms across the country.

CONNECTICUT

The Financial Accounting Foundation appointed Edward Bernard, director at LPL Financial Holdings, as the new chair of its Board of Trustees, beginning Jan. 1, 2023, running until Dec. 31, 2025, succeeding Kathleen Casey. Additionally, Joyce Joseph, managing director for Capital Accounting Advisory and Research, was appointed to the Financial Accounting Standards Board, effective July 1, 2023, until June 30, 2028, succeeding Gary Buesser. The FAF also reappointed Elizabeth Pearce as chair and Robert Hamilton as vice chair of the Governmental Accounting Standards Advisory Council, respectively.

Grant Thornton, Chicago, named a number of new leaders, including Enzo Santilli as chief transformation officer; Chris Smith in the newly created role of chief strategy officer; Nichole Jordan in the newly created position of national managing partner of geography; Wade Kruse to national managing partner of advisory services; and Rashada Whitehead to the senior leadership team, where she will continue to serve as the firm's national managing director of culture, immersion & inclusion.

Sandy Burhans was hired as the sports and entertainment group leader at ORBA, Chicago.

NEW YORK

CohnReznick office building in Miami

CohnReznick, New York, was recognized by Private Equity Wire as the Best Audit Firm – Middle Market in the publication's 2022 US Awards program. In addition, the firm's Virginia Schnippel, principal, valuation advisory services, and Aaron Kolko, managing director, transaction advisory services, joined the Value360 practice, which offers a full spectrum of advisory services to businesses at key points throughout their life cycle.

Marcum is resuming its annual Marcum Day of Service in-person Nov. 23, closing offices for the day to encourage the firm's 3,500 partners and associates to volunteer with local charities.

Asmâa Resmouki was named president of the International Federation of Accountants, serving as the first IFAC president from the Africa-Middle East region and the third female president. She will serve a two-year term through November 2024. Additionally, IFAC elected Jean Bouquot as deputy president, and also added to the board: Kathryn Byrne, Francisco Sant'Anna and Sidharta Utama. Lorelle Geyer

Lorelle Geyer was hired as senior manager of tax advisory services at Schneider Downs & Co., Pittsburgh.

Boyer & Ritter, Camp Hill, announced a number of promotions, including, to director: John Allen, serving clients in the manufacturing industry and Kyle Evans in the nonprofit practice group; to manager: Patrick Charvat, Emily Roman, Daniel Ryan, and Jordan Sallavanti; to supervisor: Stephen Baier, Kelly O'Leary, Charles Sabol, John Carlos Tavares and Jacqueline Yoder; and to senior associate, Christine Lingle.

RKL, Lancaster, hired Heather Homola as a manager and Mark Wolfrey as a senior manager, in the financial services industry group; Thomas Romano and Jennifer Witmer as managers in the tax services group; and Eric Bender as a manager in the senior living services group.

Josh Finfrock

Josh Finfrock was hired as director of transfer pricing in the international tax services practice at Weaver, Houston.
