The Tennessee Society of CPAs gave out its TSCPApex Awards at its 95th annual meeting in early June: Barrett Simonis of Pugh CPAs in Knoxville was named CPA of the Year; John Griesbeck of Reynolds, Bone and Griesbeck in Germantown, and Art Sparks of ATA in Union City, received Lifetime Achievement Awards; Jason Lay of McNabb Center in Knoxville, and Brian Tate of LBMC in Brentwood, received the Impact Award for their philanthropic activities; Amelia Hart of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and Daria Cooper of Pugh CPAs, received Women to Watch Awards in the Experienced Leader Category, while Dhonielle Toussaint of Henderson and Gardner in Chattanooga received the award in the Emerging Leader Category; and Trea McMillian of Tennessee State University in Nashville received the Special Recognition Award .

Will Williams was appointed global chief operating officer at KPMG International, London, effective October 1, succeeding Gary Wingrove, who was appointed KPMG's next global chairman and chief executive officer. Williams currently serves as chair of KPMG's Americas Region and previously held the role of chief operating officer for the Americas and vice chair of operations for KPMG US. Tim Walsh was elected chair and Atif Zaim was elected deputy chair for the Americas Region, effective July 1. Walsh succeeds Williams and will continue to serve as chair and chief executive officer of KPMG US; Zaim will continue to serve as deputy chair and managing principal for the US firm.
