CALIFORNIA

Sam Hicks, accountant at Stern, Kory, Sreden & Morgan, Stevenson Ranch, launched a new podcast, “Tax Implications,” to help individual and business filers learn more about tax compliance issues.

CONNECTICUT

The Financial Accounting Standards Board, Norwalk, appointed three members to its Small Business Advisory Committee: Jessica Doran, chief financial officer, Pzena Investment Management; Richard Forrestel Jr., treasurer, Cold Springs Construction; and Jonathan Tomazic, partner, Marcum.

GEORGIA

Nirav Shah

Nirav Shah was hired as the new principal of IT risk & assurance at Hancock Askew & Co., Atlanta.

ILLINOIS

RSM managing partner and CEO Joe Adams sent out an all-employee email in anticipation of the firm’s upcoming fiscal year-end, expressing his gratitude to the firm’s people throughout a difficult year, and announcing a few events and benefits to celebrate its successes. The firm will be: hosting a virtual BBQ bash in lieu of its traditional year-end parties; providing a cash award of $1,000 to employees who have been with the firm since May 1, 2020, and $500 to those who joined after May 1; granting two additional holiday days off in 2021 on May 28 and July 2; continuing telehealth coverage through Dec. 31, 2021; temporarily increasing the limit for Extended Case Cash from $1,500 to $2,000 to help with any additional child care expenses; and paying out PTO balances for employees who transitioned to self-managed time off with unused PTO balances.

KANSAS

Miguel Navarro was hired as global assurance leader at KCoe Isom, Lenexa.

KENTUCKY

The Accounting and Financial Women's Alliance, Lexington, opened its 2021 Accounting MOVE Project Survey with a focus on the "women’s recession” of 2020 following the COVID-19 pandemic’s disruption of the careers of at least 3 million women. (Read the full story.)

MARYLAND

KatzAbosch, Baltimore, is asking clients and contacts to participate in its peer survey on how contractors have adapted to and continue to respond to the pandemic. Access to the survey, which closes April 28, is available here.

NEBRASKA

Samantha Mansfield was hired as a senior consultant at ConvergenceCoaching, where she will manage the Client Advisor Program and Rainmaker Development Program and continue her work as a coach and facilitator in the Transformational Leadership Program. NEW JERSEY

ADP, Roseland, is holding its Accountant Summit virtually May 20, 2021, from 12 pm to 4 pm ET. The event will include an update from CEO Carlos Rodriguez and chief strategy officer Matt Levin on ADP’s latest innovations, an economic outlook from chief economist Nela Richardson based on the newest data from ADP’s Research Institute, and a special keynote interview with Earvin “Magic” Johnson.
