ALABAMA

Caryn Stark

Caryn Stark and Mark Underhill were promoted to members at BMSS Advisors & CPAs, Birmingham, where they have worked since 2007 and 2009, respectively.

Warren Averett, Birmingham, promoted seven to members of the firm: in Montgomery, Joshua Bowen in audit and Barry Prim in asset management; in Birmingham, Jared Koechner, Claiborne Morris and Van Trefethen in tax and Heather Locklar in estate; and in Foley, Alexis Willis in tax.

ARIZONA

BeachFleischman, Phoenix, entered an agreement with Silent Sector to sell and market the cybersecurity firm’s services to the firm’s clients.

CALIFORNIA

Armanino, San Ramon, promoted 14 partners, the largest class in the firm’s history: Rob Abramowitz and Elizabeth Cal in business management; Derek Barto and Michael Hogan in consulting; Christy Calderon, Pamela Dennett, Pamela Drucker, Nick Gibbons, Jill Juniper, Julissa Quirk, Marcus Sharel and Ryan Sievers in tax; and Jonathan LaMantia and Bryan Vencill in audit.

FLORIDA

Andrew Veniskey

Andrew Veniskey was promoted to partner, tax and business services, at EFPR Group, Jupiter.

Gregory Hammonds, leading partner at Whaley Hammonds Tomasello Accountants & Advisors, was named chair of the board of CPAmerica, succeeding Ernie Gelpi.

CBIZ MHM, Clearwater, celebrated its 30-year anniversary in the Tampa Bay area, first as the legacy practices of Kirkland, Russ, Murphy & Tapp and Lewis, Birch & Ricardo, and now as CBIZ Tampa Bay.

ILLINOIS

David Levine

David Levine was appointed managing partner at Topel Forman, Chicago, where he has worked for nearly 20 years and as a member/partner since 2008. Levine succeeds John Riley, who joined the firm in 1980 and served as MP since 2013.

MARYLAND

Cara Lowery was promoted to senior associate at SEK, Hagerstown.

Ryan Harshman was promoted to manager at Brown Schultz Sheridan & Fritz, Frederick.

MASSACHUSETTS

Ciprian Barna was hired as a partner in the commercial tax practice at AAFCPAs, Boston.

MICHIGAN

UHY Advisors, Detroit, named 10 new managing directors, the most in the firm’s history: Patrick Farrelly, Eric Hennessey, Eric Ribachonek and Daniel Jones in the Northeast region; Don Felmlee and Stephanie Rosenbaum in the Great Lakes; Nancy Johnson and Kate Vasiliev in the Mid-Atlantic; and Jody Lurk and Denise Pisciotta in the Midwest.

MINNESOTA

Wendy Keenan

Wendy Keenan was promoted to partner at Abdo, Eick & Meyers, Mankato.

MISSOURI

Emily Hopkins

Emily Hopkins and Garrett Bacon were hired as staff accountants in the audit department at KPM CPAs & Advisors, Springfield. In other firm news, audit supervisor Leslie Conklin received the not-for-profit certificate from the American Institute of CPAs.

NEBRASKA

Joseph Wagman was promoted to supervising senior, Vanesa Salcido to senior auditor, Mark Furasek to senior accountant, and Taylor Gehring to associate III at Seim Johnson, Omaha.

NEVADA

Jacqueline Matthew

Jacqueline Matthew, lead attest principal for the Southern Nevada region at HRC, Las Vegas, was nominated to serve on the American Institute of CPAs’ joint trial board for a three-year term starting 2021.

NEW JERSEY

The New Jersey Society of CPAs, Roseland, announced the 10 winners of its inaugural Student Loan Debt Lottery, designed to help with the costs of becoming a CPA. (Read the full story.)

Sze Man Tam

Sze Man Tam was promoted to partner, to lead the audit department, at DDK & Co., New York.

Laura Peth was named office managing principal for the Sacramento office at Mazars, New York, assuming the role from national health care practice leader Gil Enos.

Berdon, New York, and Ariel Property Advisors partnered with Legal Outreach and sponsor firms Fisher Brothers and Signature Bank to offer high school students a program, “Let’s Make a Deal,” consisting of eight immersive sessions created to impart foundational knowledge of the real estate industry.

Aaron Rupper was promoted to partner at Grassi, Jericho.

NORTH CAROLINA

Tricia Wilson

Dixon Hughes Goodman, Charlotte, announced six leadership promotions: Tricia Wilson to managing partner of talent and leadership, while maintaining her position as chair of the executive committee; John Roberts to managing partner of growth and services; Tim York to managing partner of performance; Gary Greer to managing partner of assurance for the Atlantic region; Thomas Boothby to regional managing partner, Atlantic region and maintaining his position as market managing partner, Central and Eastern North Carolina market; Keith Charlotte marketing managing partner, succeeding Gary Greer, who becomes managing partner of assurance for the Atlantic region; and Mike Crawford continuing in his role as chief operating officer.

IQ-QE, Charlotte, launched IQ-EQ Compass, an integrated service offering that simplifies environmental, social and governance compliance to help clients build sustainable value and reputational resilience.

OHIO

Karen Costantini

Bober Markey Fedorovich, Akron, created the new role of director and appointed four to the position: Karen Costantini, Cindy Mitchell and Tara Shulas in tax services and Bryant Petersen in valuation/litigation support services in the business valuation advisory services group.

Seth Turner was promoted to manager, Sandra Orcutt to tax compliance director, and Jeffrey Skakum and Jordan Knapp to senior staff accountants at Hall Kistler & Co., Canton. Additionally, the firm hired Amber Pennington as an administrative professional and Kory Arner and Mitchell Madenfort to staff accountants.

PENNSYLVANIA

Michael Tighe was promoted to managing director, and Michael DiBianca and Anthony DiGiuseppe to associate directors in the Philadelphia Metro office at Global Tax Management.

Kim Lyons and Rebecca Walck were promoted to partner at Simon Lever, Lititz, where they have worked since 2008 and 2015, respectively.

CBIZ CMF, Philadelphia, announced it will now operate under the new brand name CBIZ Private Equity Advisory.

SEK promoted, in the Camp Hill office: Benjamin Hursh to senior associate; in Carlisle: Deirdre Korkes and Jodie Meglio to senior associates; and Barry Lyons and John Stoner to supervisors; in the Chambersburg office: Kristin Delauter to supervisor and Jordan Hurrell to senior associate; and in the York office: Aaron Althouse to senior associate.

Steven Matus, manager in the financial services industry group at RKL, Exton, was selected as a Millennial Superstar by Chester County-based news site VISTA Today in the annual award program that recognizes 40 professionals under the age of 40 shaping the county’s future.

Brown Schultz Sheridan & Fritz promoted: Lauren Fenner to senior manager, James Barcheski, Gregory Blocker and Cami Grimm to manager, Katie Steele to supervisor, and Devin Brown and Alan Ennis to senior staff accountant, in the Camp Hill office; and Steven Guenther and Kim Yordy to manager in Lancaster.

RHODE ISLAND

The Rhode Island Society of CPAs, Cranston, is partnering with the Rhode Island Manufacturers Association to host a free, virtual three-day training, “Data Analytics and Dashboards: Leveraging the Power of Microsoft Power BI.” More information is available here.

Unum Tax, Stockholm, joined Anderson Global as a member firm of the international association.

TENNESSEE

Reynolds, Bone & Griesbeck, Memphis, was named to Commercial Appeal’s list of the Memphis Top Workplaces for 2020. In other firm news, Ross Braswell was promoted to financial controller, Hunter Stock to tax senior manager, and Elizabeth MCarty, Connor Shannon and Mitch West to audit seniors.

TEXAS

Angie Gildea

Angie Gildea was named national sector leader for the energy, natural resources and chemicals practice at KPMG, Houston, succeeding Regina Mayor, who held the role for five years and continues to serve as the global head of energy and natural resources, as well as the advisory industry leader for ENRC in the U.S. Gildea joined KPMG in 2014 and is based in the Houston office.

UNITED KINGDOM

HLB, London, released a new survey of business leaders, “Achieving the Post-Pandemic Vision: Leaner, greener and keener.”

VIRGINIA

The Virginia Society of CPAs, Richmond, launched a series of mental health programs and resources to help members’ mental well-being. (Read the full story.)
