ALABAMA

Warren Averett, Birmingham, released Warren Averett Engage, a virtual environment to conduct remote services and collaborate with clients.

CALIFORNIA

The California Society of CPAs, Burlingame, developed a “tax journey” for CPAs that includes, among other resources, its “Ultimate Tax Guide” of tax curricula and key programs; three tax-focused virtual programs including its TaxTrekConference; a virtual Titans of Tax Tour; and tax webcasts at the CalCPAs’ LearningPlus+ three-day programs. Richard Caturano, national leader of culture, diversity and inclusion at RSM, Boston, received the American Institute of CPAs’ Gold Medal Award of Distinction, bestowed to a CPA whose influence on the profession has been especially notable.

MISSOURI

Abe Cole was selected as the next chief operating officer at BKD CPAs & Advisors, Springfield, succeeding Eric Hansen. In other firm news, BKD Wealth Advisors was named to CNBC’s second annual Financial Advisor 100 list.

Gabriel Marquez was hired as a partner and real estate assurance leader at CohnReznick, New York.

Deloitte, New York, was named as the leading Americas Tax Technology Firm of the Year, Americas Transfer Pricing Firm of the Year, and Tax Compliance and Reporting Firm of the Year by International Tax Review for the firm’s work driving pioneering solutions and enhancing efficiency for clients in the Americas region.

Lisa Minniti-Soska

Lisa Minniti-Soska (pictured) was hired as a partner in the real estate group at Marks Paneth, Philadelphia.

RKL, Lancaster, named three leaders for three practices in the firm’s tax and consulting service lines: Amy Heim was promoted to leader of the estates and trust practice; Deborah Rock was named leader of the cost segregation practice; and Stephane Smith was promoted to leader of the human capital management practice.

Richard Bhola, a member of the assurance and advisory services department at Scott and Co., Columbia, joined the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce board of directors for 2020-21.
