The Connecticut Society of CPAs recognizes seven women with CTCPA Women Awards; RSM raises over $4.6 million at RSM Classic; and more CPA news.

ARIZONA

Andrew Baker was promoted to partner at Lohman Co., Mesa, where he has worked in the assurance department since 2007.

CALIFORNIA

Maria Rebecca Cabigao, Maria Luisa Castanada and Kevin Strain were hired as certified senior managers at Lindquist, San Ramon.

CONNECTICUT

Patrick Dunleavey was hired as an audit principal at CironeFriedberg, Bethel, where he will be providing services for not-for-profit, manufacturing and distribution, and arts and cultural organizations, independent schools and human service agencies.

The Connecticut Society of CPAs, Rocky Hill, honored seven women in its second annual CTCPA Women Awards. The 2021 CTCPA Women Distinguished Service Awards were presented to: Susan Brosseau, chief financial officer at Ädelbrook Behavioral and Developmental Services; Dana Silva, chief accounting officer and corporate secretary at Ion Bank; and Heather Ziegler, Stamford managing partner at Deloitte & Touche LLP. The 2021 CTCPA Women to Watch Awards were presented to Jenna Allegretto, senior manager, assurance services at Marcum LLP; Anne Comer, director of operations at CRC Group; Erica Czajkowski, audit senior manager at Deloitte & Touche LLP; and Marissa LaBelle, staff attorney at RSM US LLP.

ILLINOIS

RSM US announced that this year the RSM Classic, an official PGA Tour event hosted by the Davis Love Foundation, raised $4,608,566 for children- and family-focused charitable organizations in its 11th year.

NEW JERSEY

Ralph Thomas, CEO and executive director of the New Jersey Society of CPAs, Roseland, was awarded the African American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey’s 2021 Business Award, to be presented at the AACCNJ’s Eleventh Annual Circle of Achievement Virtual Awards Gala on Feb. 11. The award honors a distinguished group of African Americans who have attained a significant level of accomplishment in business, politics, education, sports and/or entertainment.

Tara Del Gavio and Chris Martin were named members of SobelCo, Livingston. Del Gavio joined the firm as a senior manager in the nonprofit and social services practice in 2018 and Martin was hired as a manager in the audit practice in 2015.

Rudolf Bless, chief accounting officer at Bank of America, was appointed chair of the Committee on Corporate Reporting for Financial Executives International, Morristown, for a term from March 1, 2021 to June 30, 2023. He succeeds Prat Bhatt, senior vice president, chief accounting officer and corporate controller of Cisco Systems, Inc., who served as chair from July 1, 2019 to Feb. 28, 2021.

NEW YORK

Elizabeth Goodwin was appointed managing director of the federal tax practice at Alvarez & Marsal Taxand, New York.

Ulises Ruiz was hired as a principal and member of the international tax practice at Friedman, New York.

Marks Paneth, New York, released a new report, “Planning for Resilience,” a survey of nonprofit leaders and executives focused on how nonprofits can plan and move forward during the pandemic.

PENNSYLVANIA

Matthew Boland, director of accounting and assurance at McCarthy & Co., Lafayette Hill, earned the Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional designation awarded by the Institute of Certified Construction Industry Financial Professionals.

WASHINGTON, D.C.

Heather Maloy was named director, Taxpayer First Act Office, at the Internal Revenue Service, to report directly to the IRS commissioner. Additionally, Nancy Sieger was selected as the chief information officer at the IRS, where she has served as acting CIO since June 2019.

The National Association of Taxpayers, Appleton, announced it is offering worksheets, charts and checklists to help individuals preparing 2021 tax returns. The NATP also announced it will be offering extended hours during tax season.
