Citrin Cooperman expands advisory services practice; Weaver raises $60K for charity; and more CPA news.

ALABAMA

Himmelwright, Huguley & Boles, Auburn and Opelika, joined Allinial Global as a member firm of the international association.

CALIFORNIA

Tom Schmit was appointed chief revenue officer and Chris Doell as chief customer officer at AuditBoard, Los Angeles.

Lori Hack and her team joined the health care consulting practice at Mazars USA, Sacramento, where they will focus on supporting medical group and health plan operations and Hack will serve as principal.

CONNECTICUT

The Financial Accounting Standards Board, Norwalk, appointed three new members to its Investor Advisory Committee: Kevyn Dillow, vice president and senior accounting analyst at Moody’s Investors Service; Ronald Graziano, managing director, global accounting & tax research at Credit Suisse Group; and Dennis Neveling, managing director and analyst, global consumer staples at Lazard Asset Management.

FLORIDA

Ellrich, Neal, Smith & Stohlman expanded into Orlando, opening its third location at S. Orange Ave, Unit 100. The Orlando office is led by Keith Gardere, who joined the firm in 2007 and is now a shareholder in the business valuation and litigation service department.

ILLINOIS

Tracey Walker

Tracey Walker was named national leader of culture, diversity and inclusion, effective May 1, at RSM, succeeding Rich Caturano, former chairman of the AICPA and founder of RSM’s CDI program. Walker has served as RSM’s national senior director of government affairs and culture, diversity and inclusion since 2015 and has been with the firm since 2005.

Alan Whitman was elected to a third three-year term as chief executive officer at Baker Tilly, Chicago, with the firm’s board of directors approving the election midway through his second term, extending his tenure, which originally began in 2016, through May 31, 2025.

INDIANA

Somerset CPAs, Indianapolis, promoted, to coordinator: Libby Oliver and Lauren Seifers; to talent acquisition senior associates: Karli Azar and Kaitlin Heick; to senior accountant: Ryan Conner, Tori Flach, Doug Lee, Andrew Mahan, Cody Turpen, Grant West and Olivia Williams; to supervisor: Kay Camp, Erik Forbes, Brian Moore, Kelly Pawlanta, Larry Pugliese and Jordan Wright; to manager: Bob Akin, Shaun Heinzelman, Megan Holtz, Emily Lewis, Kaitlyn Mundell, Josh Roth, Susan Saylor, Ashley Sovine and Jakob Wright; to senior manager: Hayley DeMasie, Jeff Hoots, Cole House, Pat Primmer, Jordan Shady and Shelly Shi; and to president: Ben Kimmerling.

David Resnick, chair of the board at Katz, Sapper & Miller, Indianapolis, was honored by Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb with the Sagamore of the Wabash award for his commitment to community service and giving.

MINNESOTA

Kimberly Ellison-Taylor

Kimberly Ellison-Taylor, executive director of finance thought leadership for Oracle Corp., was elected director of U.S. Bancorp, Minneapolis, by its board of directors. Ellison-Taylor previously served as the chair for the American Institute of CPAs.

MISSOURI

Paul Nadin

Paul Nadin was hired as a tax partner in the real estate services group at RubinBrown, St. Louis.

Jessica Pearce, a staff accountant at KPM CPAs & Advisors, Springfield, earned her CPA license.

Luke Luckett, Justin Marty, Lesley Sanchez and Dan Schindler were promoted to principal at Anders, St. Louis. In other firm news, Anders announced it selected The Child Center as its charity of choice for 2021, to benefit from the firm’s program which combines fundraising and volunteer activities to support the child advocacy organization serving children and families in northeast Missouri.

NEW HAMPSHIRE

Melissa Biron

Melissa Biron was promoted to principal at Nathan Wechsler & Co., Concord, where she has been a member since 2007.

NEW JERSEY

McCarthy & Co., Tinton Falls, was named to NJBIZ’s list of Top Management Consulting Firms in New Jersey, ranking No. 14.

NEW YORK

John Ferro

John Ferro was hired as a managing director in the business valuation group at UHY Advisors, New York.

Constance Wright was hired as a principal and Jennifer Katrulya was promoted to partner in the business process outsourcing practice, and Joe Cashel was hired as a principal in the newly formed bankruptcy and restructuring services practice, at Citrin Cooperman, New York.

EisnerAmper, New York, appointed to its technology and life sciences services group: Marc Fogarty, national biotech sector leader; Michael Hadjiloucas, national pharmaceutical and medical devices sector leader; Richard Cleaveland, national software sector leader; and Jon Zefi, national technology services leader.

John Alfonso, partner and leader of the not-for-profit and education industry practice at CohnReznick, New York, was named 2021 chair of the American Cancer Society board of directors, beginning a one-year term Jan. 1.

Sarah Hopkins and Jonathan Roller were named partners at Lumsden & McCormick, Buffalo. In other news, William Allen was appointed partner at Brisbane Consulting Group, a wholly owned subsidiary of Lumsden & McCormick.

KPMG International launched the firm’s first global environmental, social and governance plan, Our Impact Plan.

Abe Schlisselfeld, managing partner of Marks Paneth, was named among the most Notable in Real Estate by Crain’s New York Business, honoring those who have impacted the New York City real estate industry through their professional, civic and philanthropic achievements.

PENNSYLVANIA

Amanda Soldner

Amanda Soldner was hired as a manager in the tax services group at RKL, York.

Matthew Sparks was hired as an entry-level accountant in the accounting and audit department at Ross Buehler Falk & Co., Lancaster.

SOUTH AFRICA

SAB&T Business Consulting joined international association Andersen Global.

TENNESSEE

HHM CPAs hired, in the Chattanooga office: Joseph Bishop and Andrew Mayfield as senior accountants and Blake Bryson, Gabby Galluzzi and Rachael Yager as staff accountants; and in the Memphis office: John Wise as a senior accountant and Taylor Boswell as a staff accountant.

TEXAS

Weaver, Houston, raised more than $60,000 for charity by walking more than 28,000 miles during the firm’s “Get Moving for Charity Challenge,” benefitting five charities: Alzheimer’s Association, American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and Feed the Children.

VIRGINIA

Blaine Hegner was hired as a partner at CST Group, Reston.

WASHINGTON, D.C.

The Securities and Exchange Commission announced Paul Munter will serve as the acting chief accountant upon the departure of Sagar Teotia in February. (Read the full story.) The SEC also announced Melissa Hodgman, currently an associate director in the SEC’s Division of Enforcement, was named acting director of the Division of Enforcement.

WISCONSIN

Charles Markham was elected to the 2021 board of directors of the National Association of Tax Professionals, joining eight other board members. In other NATP news, the three state chapters of the association will celebrate milestones in 2021: the New Mexico chapter is celebrating 25 years as a chapter; the Maine chapter is celebrating 25 years; and the Virginia chapter is celebrating its 30-year anniversary.
