Nicolas Waldenmayer was promoted to senior tax manager and Nicole Shahzadi was promoted to tax manager in the tax services department of HMWC CPAs & Business Advisors, Tustin.

Usman Ilyas and Rex Vollmer were hired as audit managers and David Moya was hired as a tax manager at White Nelson Diehl Evans, Irvine.
Donna Munday was hired as director of member programs & leadership of AGN International – North America, Denver.
Michael Jordan, managing director at Andersen Tax in Old Greenwich, was elected to serve as the advisory council chair of the Connecticut Society of CPAs for their 2017-18 activity year.
Les Adler and Jorge Aldecoa were named partners at Kabat, Schertzer De La Torre, Taraboulos and Company, Miami, and brought with them Bernie Swichkow, who will serve as senior advisor, and six other accountants. Prior to joining KSDT, both Adler and Aldecoa were partners in Miami-based firm Binstock, Rubin, Adler, Aldecoa and Ellzey, which resulted from a merger in 2007 with Berman, Swichkow, Farbish Adler and Aldecoa.
Lila Casper was hired as a staff accountant in the audit and assurance services department of Sponsel CPA Group, Indianapolis.
George Glanz and Jacob Ward were hired as staff accountants, and Jakob Njos as an intern, at Louis T. Roth & Co., Louisville.

Sara Fleischmann, staff II accountant in the tax services division of Riney Hancock CPAs, Owensboro, received her CPA license by successfully completing the CPA exam and experience requirements.
Kimberly Ellison-Taylor, chairman of the American Institute of CPAs and Baltimore native, was honored by a proclamation by Maryland Governor Larry Hogan recognizing her accomplishments and services on behalf of American’s CPAs. The proclamation was presented by Sen. Brian Feldman, a CPA, during the Maryland Association of CPAs’ annual CPA Day in Annapolis advocacy event January 26, where Ellison-Taylor was also recognized by Maryland’s full House and Senate. Ellison-Taylor is the first Marylander and the fifth woman to serve as AICPA chairman and the first minority man or woman to lead the board of directors.
Sarah Jennings, principal in the accounting and outsourced solutions department of Maner Costerisan, Lansing, earned the Certified Association Executive designation from ASAE, a membership organization of more than 21,000 association executives and industry partners.
John Langan, chief industry officer of the public sector group of CliftonLarsonAllen, Minneapolis, was elected chair of the firm’s board of directors for 2017, and three new board members were elected to three-year terms: Scott Dietzen, chief practice officer for the Mountain West region; Jen Leary, managing principal of office in Charlotte; and Gregg Draeger, chief practice officer for the Midwest region. Additionally, Matt Claeys, managing principal of office in Dallas, was re-elected to a second term on the CLA board and elected by the board to serve as board secretary for 2017. Other board members currently serving are Bill Petri, managing principal of office in Denver; John Richter, chief strategy officer; Denny Schleper, chief executive officer; and Lori Sims, chief tax officer. Larry Taylor, chief practice officer for the Southwest Region (who recently joined CLA with the Jan. 1, 2017, acquisition of Gallina) has been invited to attend and participate in meetings of the board through 2018.
Joanne Kearbey was promoted to principal in the insurance advisory services practice at Brown Smith Wallace, St. Louis. She has more than 18 years of public accounting and tax experience in the insurance industry. The firm also promoted Matt Byford to manager in the transaction advisory and litigation support practice.

Leslie Conklin and Jason Moses, staff accountants at KPM CPAs & Advisors, Springfield, recently completed all parts of their CPA exam and earned their CPA licenses, and Rebecca Friedrich, manager with the firm’s governmental team, earned her Advanced Single Audit Certificate.
Nina Ann Timney was hired as an associate at Nathan Wechsler & Co., Concord.

CPA Associates International announced the election of its North America leadership for the 2017 Association year: James Holmes, managing partner of Vrakas/Blum in Brookfield, S.C., was named chairman; Paul Rudoy, managing partner of H2R CPA in Pittsburgh, as chairman-elect; Christopher Roberts, managing partner at West Rhode & Roberts in San Diego, as secretary; and Jeffrey Arnol, managing partner of Kesller Orlean Silver & Co. in Deerfield, Ill., as treasurer. CPA Associates International also announced the new members of the North America Board of Directors: Scott Bush, shareholder at Soukup, Bush & Associates in Fort Collins, Colo.; Erin Gallagher, managing partner of Seber Tans in Kalamazoo, Mich.; Mary Lynch, partner of Haefele, Flanagan & Co. in Maple Shade, N.J.; and Kyle Taylor, partner of Sobul, Primes & Schenkel, CPAs in Los Angeles.
Sarah Cirelli was hired as marketing director, and Eric Martin and John Fitzgerald were promoted to managing directors at CBIZ MHM. Martin was also promoted to shareholder.

Kevin Matz, CPA, was hired as a partner in the personal client services group in the New York office of Stroock. He comes to the law firm after maintaining his own independent practice for eight years, and will be joined by associate Kadeen Wong. Matz concentrates on domestic and international estate and tax planning, estate administration and related litigation.

Julie Manteria was promoted to director of marketing at UHY Advisors, New York, where she will be responsible for all marketing initiatives for the Northeast and California offices, including New York City, Albany, West Hartford, Conn., and Orange County, Calif.

Michē Needham was named partner of Lumsden & McCormick, Buffalo. With over a decade of experience as a tax professional, she is responsible for development and implementation of tax strategies, planning, compliance and audit issues, and has experience in all areas of U.S. and state tax matters. Lumsden & McCormick also announced none other promotions. In the audit department, Matthew Tower was promoted to manager, Dominic Baranyi was promoted to senior accountant, and Jenna Torella was promoted to senior accountant; in the tax department, Mark Stack was promoted to manager, Megan Morris was promoted to senior accountant, Kevin Smeader was promoted to senior accountant and Angela Vacanti was promoted to senior accountant. In the Brisbane consulting group – computer division, Jonathan Urban was promoted to senior implementation specialist in the nonprofit technology division. In administration, Lindsay Evans was promoted to marketing specialist.
Todd Wall was named office managing partner of the Portland office of Grant Thornton, where he will oversee the office’s audit, tax and advisory service lines, and client service, growth and talent development.

Veronica McCauley, Adam Powell and Emily White were hired as associate accountants at Kernutt Stokes, Eugene.
Edward Jenkins, consultant at Boyer & Ritter, Camp Hill, was selected for a three-year term on the American Institute of CPAs Council.
