People on the move: SageWorks appoints president

Russell Bedford International names new CEO; Skoda Minotti hires five professionals; and other recent hires, promotions and personnel news from firms across the country.

CALIFORNIA

Therese Tucker, CEO of BlackLine, Los Angeles, was named CEO of the Year at the 16th Annual Women in Business Awards presented yesterday by the San Fernando Valley Business Journal, which honors outstanding achievements by women business leaders as selected by the journal’s reporters and editors.

ENGLAND

Stephen Hamlet was appointed chief executive officer of global accounting and business advisory firm network Russell Bedford International, replacing Alan Bezzant, who is retiring after four years in the role. Hamlet was most recently chief executive at global association IAPA International and before that, regional executive director for Europe, the Middle East and Africa for BKR International.

GEORGIA

Jim Canfield was appointed managing director of CEO Tools by Aprio, Atlanta.

KANSAS

Louella Moore, a Washburn faculty member who teaches in the Masters of Accountancy program and a member of the Kansas Society of CPAs, was honored by the Public Interest Section of the American Accounting Association for her paper, "Carving Nature at Its Joints: The Accounting Entity Concept in a Tangled Society."

MISSOURI

Sarah Schiltz, partner at MarksNelson and the youngest woman ever appointed to the position at the firm, was named to the 2017 class of 40 Under Forty by Ingram’s business magazine, honoring leaders in business and civic affairs who are under the age of 40.

Aaron Bobb, supervisor in the consulting department of Mueller Prost CPAs + Business Advisors, has earned the Accredited in Business Valuation designation from the American Institute of CPAs.

NEW YORK

Gabe Shurek was promoted to partner at Gettry Marcus CPA, Woodbury, where he has worked since 2001, most recently as director.

NORTH CAROLINA

Jay Blandford was promoted to president of SageWorks. He has been with the company since 2016 and most recently served as chief revenue officer.

OHIO

Skoda Minotti, Cleveland, hired five professionals: Steve Smith as a staff accountant in the accounting and auditing group, George Carter as a senior associate with the risk advisory services group, Jen Wintrow as an HR consultant with the human resources group, Randal Slifer as a manager in the accounting and auditing group and Jordan Benson as an accounting assistant with the small business services group.

PENNSYLVANIA

Judson Meinhart, wealth advisor at RKL Wealth Management, Wyomissing, was named one of Lehigh Valley Business’ 2017 Forty Under 40 young business leaders, celebrating young business leaders in the Greater Lehigh Valley who demonstrate professional excellence, business acumen and community engagement.

WASHINGTON, D.C.

James Soligan, director at Deloitte Consulting, joined the Network Centric Operations Industry Consortium board of directors to work with other leaders to address interoperability issues affecting global interdependence and collaboration.
