Therese Tucker, CEO of BlackLine, Los Angeles, was named CEO of the Year at the 16th Annual Women in Business Awards presented yesterday by the San Fernando Valley Business Journal, which honors outstanding achievements by women business leaders as selected by the journal’s reporters and editors.
Stephen Hamlet was appointed chief executive officer of global accounting and business advisory firm network Russell Bedford International, replacing Alan Bezzant, who is retiring after four years in the role. Hamlet was most recently chief executive at global association IAPA International and before that, regional executive director for Europe, the Middle East and Africa for BKR International.
Jim Canfield was appointed managing director of CEO Tools by Aprio, Atlanta.
Louella Moore, a Washburn faculty member who teaches in the Masters of Accountancy program and a member of the Kansas Society of CPAs, was honored by the Public Interest Section of the American Accounting Association for her paper, "Carving Nature at Its Joints: The Accounting Entity Concept in a Tangled Society."
Sarah Schiltz, partner at MarksNelson and the youngest woman ever appointed to the position at the firm, was named to the 2017 class of 40 Under Forty by Ingram’s business magazine, honoring leaders in business and civic affairs who are under the age of 40.
