Small business accounting plaform Xero  debuted XeroForce, a natural language custom AI agent builder for the financial workflows of small businesses and accountants. Custom AI agents designed through XeroForce can be built in natural language and used across Xero and a variety of third-party tools already used by small businesses and accountants, connecting apps, actions, rules and schedules into automated processes shaped for their firm, a specific client or a specific industry. The agents also support always-on processes or workflows as businesses wait for events or actions, such as email replies or filing dates, completing tasks in the background over days or weeks. They have domain-specific accounting and financial logic and workflows — such as month-end close and ongoing reporting to organizing tax documents, purchase order validation, payrun approval and more — baked in.  The program also includes logged and traceable audit trails, as well as bulk action across clients. The launch is in alpha, available to invitation-only customers, with plans to bring XeroForce to general release later this year.

Travel expense

Travel and expense solutions provider Emburse announced an AI agent that automates travel and expense workflows. The new AI agent autonomously analyzes transactions, receipts and itineraries to prepare expense reports that are ready for review. If any details are missing, the AI agent prompts the user to add them, either by typing or speaking in natural language, and automatically applies the updates. The resulting reports are meant to be fully compliant with company expense policies and context-aware across every expense. For example, it understands when flights and hotel stays belong to the same trip, which local tax rules need to be applied, and whether a meal should be charged back to a client. With full automation transparency, the AI agent shows the rationale behind every decision. Additionally, Emburse ingests receipt and transaction data from across the travel and spend ecosystem through hundreds of integrations, including major providers such as American Airlines AAdvantage Business, DoorDash for Business, Uber, Lyft, Amazon Business, Hertz, Renfe and The Parking Spot, as well as leading travel management companies including AmTrav, FCM, CTM and more. It also features mobile capture, email forwarding, calendar integrations and document uploads. The new agentic expense experience will be available beginning in fall 2026 as part of Emburse Enterprise Expense, with additional capabilities rolling out in the coming months.

Spendflow touts autonomous procurement workforce

Procurement

Procurement solutions provider Spendflo has launched Flo AI, an autonomous procurement workforce designed for mid-market companies. Flo AI runs the complete procurement lifecycle: intake, approvals, vendor management, contract review and accounts payable, as a single connected system. It does not assist procurement teams but acts on their behalf. Flo is made up of three agents, each covering a distinct phase of the procurement lifecycle. Flo Procure handles every purchase request from first submission to approved purchase order and does things like routes requests, checks budget and policy, collects vendor documentation and drives approval workflows to completion. Flo Contracts, meanwhile, reads, redlines and tracks vendor agreements, surfacing nonstandard clauses, extracting key commercial terms and flagging upcoming renewals. Finally, Flo AP (Accounts Payable) matches incoming invoices against purchase orders and contracts, routes exceptions for human review, and processes payment. Because Flo AP shares context with Flo Procure and Flo Contracts, it verifies invoices against what was actually agreed at sourcing, not just what the vendor submitted. The three agents work as one system. The context carries forward at every stage. What Flo Procure learns about a vendor informs how Flo Contracts reads their agreement. What Flo Contracts extracts from the agreement informs how Flo AP handles the invoice.
