TurboTax and CoinTracker team up to assist crypto reporting

TurboTax announced that, through its partnership with cryptocurrency tax platform CoinTracker, users can now directly import crypto transaction data into TurboTax through connecting all their wallets and exchange activity to automatically find their cost basis. People will be able to import up to 4,000 such transactions into TurboTax at once, eliminating the need to download CSV files and manually upload transaction information.

Nominations open for 2022 Modern Accounting Awards

Accounting automation firm Blackline announced that nominations for its 2022 Modern Accounting Awards are now open. The awards, open to Blackline customers, recognize those who have embraced modern accounting using Blackline’s products for financial close and accounts receivable automation as well as intercompany financial management. This year there are seven award categories: the Unifier, the Accelerator, the Closer, the Capitalizer, the Modernizer and the Transformer, all based on different themes. BlackLine customers can submit a nomination through May 31.

Small businesses feeling confident

A recent survey from accounting software provider Sage has found that a comfortable majority of small and medium businesses are quite confident about their prospects over the next 12 months, despite obstacles (see recent story). While over a third have not yet restored their normal operations, with a full 9% at risk of going out of business entirely in the coming months, 69% of 13,000 respondents said they feel confident their business will be successful over the next year. It also found that as many as 59% say they dealt well with the challenges they’ve faced by cutting costs, tapping savings, offering new products or adopting new technology.

Partnerships, acquisitions and integrations

Payment and commerce technology firm Fortis announced a partnership with enterprise resource planning firm Lockstep, which will enable customers of both companies to access each other’s products. … Accounting software provider Xero announced a partnership with Quantas Business Rewards in the Australian market to allow small businesses there to earn points from day-to-day operations via the Xero App Store. … Xero also announced that it has partnered with cloud business software firm VirtlX, allowing employee data to be shared between its platform Xero Payroll without needing to re-enter employee data. … Accounting software firm Sage said it has expanded into the French market by launching Sage Intacct Manufacturing, allowing French customers to access product and operations management tools focused on discrete manufacturers. … Business management software SAP announced it has completed its acquisition of a majority stake in capital solutions fintech firm Taulia. The solutions will be integrated with current SAP solutions, as well as continue to exist as a standalone product.
