New York (June 17, 2004) —Accenture named Stephen J. Rohleder chief operating officer of the global consulting concern effective Sept. 1, succeeding company veteran Stephan A. James, who will retire but continue as an advisor.
Rohleder, 46, currently serves as chief executive of Accenture’s government operating group. Once his new appointment becomes official, he will be succeeded in his former post by Martin I. Cole, 48, who is currently Accenture’s managing partner of outsourcing and infrastructure delivery.
As COO, Rohleder will oversee all day-to-day operations of the consulting concern, as well as assume primary responsibility for business strategies and quality assurance.
Also on Sept. 1, as previously reported, William D. Green will succeed Joe Forehand as Accenture’s chief executive.
Accenture is the former Andersen Consulting.
