The tool, called the Enterprise Attractiveness Score, evaluates 10 dimensions similar to what PE due diligence teams consider when putting a price on a firm. The system determines a PE Readiness Score and shows the top area the firm should fix in order to optimize its value. Early access to the EAS is currently available at no cost for a limited time.

"The valley between what's actually happening on the PE street and what firm owners and leaders understand about it is wide enough to cost them real money," Accountaneur Advisory CEO Hitendra Patil said in a statement. "I am not here to tell anyone PE is a stealth beneficiary of accountants' value, and I am not here to tell anyone to stay independent at all costs. Both of those framings treat the firm owner as a passive observer. My aim is to level the playing field so both sides get optimal value."

Patil hopes to help accounting firms better understand their own value before entering into conversations with buyers.

"I am not going to tell anyone what to decide," he said. "I want to give them what they need to decide well and decide it unbiased."
