Accounting Portal Goes Live

iShade.com, an online network for accountants that provides a platform for user interaction, collaboration, networking, sharing and research, has officially launched following a beta test.

“We’re trying to build what we believe will become the accounting profession online,” CEO Jeff Pawlow told AccountingToday.com. He explained the project initially began three years ago as an internal client portal project. “It’s a place where accountants in the U.S. and around the globe can gather and continue to develop themselves professionally,” he added.

Pawlow said that the site also connects iShade members to training and resources, as well as online and live CPE.

“We’ve been tracking stats from April 18th until today and we’ve had 1,500 beta users, 500 firms and 200 marketplace [vendor] profiles," Pawlow said.

He added that during beta testing, iShade drew 25,000 page views with the average view at 9.3 pages. The bounce rates were roughly 30 percent, he revealed.
