AccuFund Introduces Budget Development Module

AccuFund Inc., a provider of financial reporting and accounting software for nonprofits and municipal and government organizations, has rolled out its first budget development module for the AccuFund Accounting Suite. With the module, budget managers can view any budget version to compare changes, as well as control revisions until the budget is locked. Revisions can be entered line by line, or by making calculations using rules applied at either the account, group, or worksheet levels. Notes can also be entered on any account line in a budget worksheet to explain a revision.

“It’s an extension of our accounting system,” said Peter Stam, president of AccuFund. “We have had budget reporting in our general ledger all along, but we didn’t have a tool to use to build the budget. We expected people to build it in Excel and then import it in. That doesn’t give control over the budget process.”

The module also allows managers to distribute their budgets according to how they run their business - designating annual, quarterly, seasonal or monthly distributions. There is the option of distributing a budget based on a prior year’s actuals or other historical data. The system automatically distributes a budget based on the pre-defined configuration and provides the ability to create tables showing the overall budget distribution.

Also included in the module is the AccuFund “Quick Report” function, allowing users to print any screen, or export any budget, to Excel. And the module features customizable reporting, allowing users to create reports by worksheet and using any columns they prefer.

This new module is included in AccuFund’s Accounting Suite 3.5 version, released in March. The AccuFund Budget Development module is available in both the standard and professional editions of the AccuFund Accounting Suite, priced at $1,295, and $1,695, respectively.
