Add-in Edits Microsoft Excel Pivot Tables

A new software add-in allows users to edit data directly in a Microsoft Excel pivot table.

Pivot4U Add-in from Excel4U.Net Solutions enables information in the data area of an Excel pivot table to be editable, making the spreadsheets easier to use for planning, budgeting and analysis.

A pivot table is a data summarization tool that, among other functions, can automatically sort, count and total the data stored in one table or spreadsheet and create a second table displaying the summarized data.

One weakness of Microsoft Excel comes from the missing option to enter or change the data directly in the data area of a pivot table. The pivot table is linked to the source data, and the cells of the table display read-only amounts. However, Pivot4U Add-in makes a pivot table editable.

Once Pivot4U Add-in is installed, users can set the cursor on any cell in the pivot table and change the value in the cell. When the value is changed, all the totals are recalculated automatically.

Pivot4U Add-in 1.2 requires Microsoft Office 2007 and .Net Framework 2.0. The product is available in a free 14-day evaluation version from www.excel4u.net. The purchase price is $79.99.
