Africk Chez Joins LarsonAllen

LarsonAllen has merged in Chicago-based accounting firm Africk Chez, building the Minneapolis-based firm’s presence in the Windy City.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The merger took effect on Jan. 18. The two firms had been discussing the merger for approximately a year. LarsonAllen was founded in 1953 and has 1,400 employees and $225 million in annual revenues. The firm ranked 19th on Accounting Today’s 2009 list of the Top 100 Firms. Besides Minnesota and Illinois, the firm also has offices in Arizona, Florida, Massachusetts, Missouri, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Texas, Washington, D.C., and Wisconsin. While the firm has clients in Chicago and other parts of Illinois, the Africk Chez merger will allow it to operate out of offices in the city.

“As one firm we look forward to creating new relationships within the Chicago market, and will continue to provide noticeably different client experiences,” said LarsonAllen CEO Gordy Viere in a statement.

Africk Chez was founded in 1996 and now includes approximately 30 people serving clients across the country. The firm’s management team has more than 62 years combined of public accounting experience.
